AND MASSACHUSETTS SOUTHEAST COAST WITH ROUGH SURF...DANGEROUS RIP
CURRENTS...BEACH EROSION AND A PERIOD OF GUSTY WINDS LATE TONIGHT
INTO MONDAY. A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH
COASTS OF RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS INCLUDING BLOCK
ISLAND...MARTHA/S VINEYARD...NANTUCKET AND CAPE COD. TROPICAL STORM
FORCE CONDITIONS ARE MOST LIKELY TONIGHT INTO MONDAY...MAINLY OVER
THE ISLANDS AND ALONG THE IMMEDIATE SOUTH COAST. SINCE HERMINE IS
EXPECTED TO STALL SOUTH OF NEW ENGLAND...SQUALLS WITH TROPICAL STORM
FORCE GUSTS MAY LINGER AT TIMES THROUGH MID WEEK ACROSS THE CAPE AND
ISLANDS.
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH MAY ARRIVE ACROSS BLOCK
ISLAND...MARTHA/S VINEYARD AND NANTUCKET DURING THIS EVENING AND
SPREAD NORTH ALONG THE IMMEDIATE SOUTH COAST TONIGHT. THE WIND
GUSTS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE SOUTH COAST AND ISLANDS MAY DOWN SOME
TREES AND LARGE BRANCHES WITH SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES. SOME TREES
MAY BE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO WIND DAMAGE DUE TO STRESS FROM DROUGHT
CONDITIONS. THE STRONGEST WIND GUSTS SHOULD OCCUR TONIGHT THROUGH
MONDAY MORNING.
ALONG THE COAST...DANGEROUSLY ROUGH SURF AND LIFE THREATENING RIP
CURRENTS ARE LIKELY LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE MIDDLE PART OF
THE WEEK...ESPECIALLY ALONG RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS SOUTH
COAST BEACHES. THE GREATEST THREAT OF BEACH EROSION DURING THE
HIGH TIDE TONIGHT AND MONDAY LOOKS TO BE THE RHODE ISLAND COAST
FROM WESTERLY TO POINT JUDITH...BLOCK ISLAND AND THE EAST AND
SOUTH SIDES OF NANTUCKET WHERE A STORM SURGE OF 2 TO 3 FEET AND
WAVES TO 15 FEET ARE ANTICIPATED. A 1 TO 2 FOOT STORM SURGE IS
LIKELY ALONG THE REST OF THE RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS
SHORELINES WITH AREAS OF MINOR BEACH EROSION LIKELY. ROUGH
SURF...DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS AND POCKETS OF MINOR BEACH EROSION
MAY PERSIST TO MID WEEK ACROSS THE EXPOSED RHODE ISLAND AND
MASSACHUSETTS SHORELINES.
A FEW HEAVY DOWNPOURS ARE POSSIBLE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY ACROSS
SOUTHEAST NEW ENGLAND...BUT NO FLOODING IS EXPECTED.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS

* WIND: PREPARE FOR WIND HAVING SOME IMPACTS ALONG THE SOUTH
COAST...CAPE AND ISLANDS. POTENTIAL IMPACTS IN THIS AREA
INCLUDE: SOME TREES...LARGE BRANCHES AND POWER LINES DOWNED
CAUSING SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES.
* SURGE: A 2 TO 3 FOOT STORM SURGE IS LIKELY ALONG THE NANTUCKET
EAST AND SOUTH COASTS...BLOCK ISLAND AND ALONG THE RHODE ISLAND
SOUTH COAST WITH A 1 TO 2 FOOT STORM SURGE ELSEWHERE DURING
TONIGHT/S HIGH TIDE. THIS WILL RESULT IN MINOR BEACH EROSION
ALONG EXPOSED BEACHES...WITH POCKETS OF MODERATE EROSION
POSSIBLE ALONG THE RHODE ISLAND COAST...ESPECIALLY FROM WESTERLY
TO POINT JUDITH...BLOCK ISLAND AND THE EAST AND SOUTH FACING
SHORELINES OF NANTUCKET. ANY COASTAL FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BE
SPOTTY AND MINOR.
