SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------
TROPICAL STORM HERMINE HAS EMERGED OVER THE ATLANTIC OCEAN JUST
OFF THE NORTHERN OUTER BANKS OF NORTH CAROLINA. HERMINE WILL
SLOWLY TRACK NORTHEASTWARD TODAY THEN STALL OFF THE MID ATLANTIC
COAST THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.
SOME IMPACTS FROM HERMINE ARE WINDING DOWN. THE FLOODING RAIN
THREAT AND TORNADO THREAT HAVE ENDED ACROSS THE LOCAL AREA. RAIN,
SOME HEAVY AT TIMES, WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE LOWER EASTERN SHORE
OF MARYLAND AND VIRGINIA THIS AFTERNOON WHILE GRADUALLY TAPERING
OFF ACROSS SOUTHEAST VIRGINIA AND NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA.
WIND GUSTS OF BETWEEN 45 AND 55 MPH ARE STILL EXPECTED ALONG THE
CHESAPEAKE BAY...THE ATLANTIC COAST...AND COASTAL WATERS OF
MARYLAND...VIRGINIA AND NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH SATURDAY
EVENING. THESE STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE HIGH SURF...WHILE ALSO
ALLOWING FOR BEACH EROSION AS WELL AS DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS ALONG
THE IMMEDIATE COAST.
ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT IMPACT WILL BE MODERATE TO LOCALLY MAJOR COASTAL
FLOODING AT TIMES OF HIGH TIDE THROUGH THE WEEKEND. STORM SURGE VALUES
OF 2 TO 3 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL ARE EXPECTED...WITH LOCALLY UP
TO 4 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL ACROSS SOUTHSIDE HAMPTON ROADS.

AND DOCKS.

CAROLINA...AND THE LOWER MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE, LITTLE TO NO IMPACT
IS ANTICIPATED.
* WIND:

PORCHES, AWNINGS, CARPORTS, AND SHEDS. A FEW BUILDINGS
EXPERIENCING WINDOW, DOOR, AND GARAGE DOOR FAILURES. MOBILE
