...THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED SOUTH OF CAPE
LOOKOUT AS CHARLEY ACCELERATES ACROSS THE NORTHERN COUNTIES OF
EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...

THIS STATEMENT IS FOR RESIDENTS OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:
DARE...CARTERET...HYDE...PAMLICO...CRAVEN...BEAUFORT...ONSLOW...
WASHINGTON...TYRRELL.

...WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTH CAROLINA COAST
NORTH OF CAPE LOOKOUT INCLUDING THE ALBEMARLE AND PAMLICO SOUNDS.
A TORNADO WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA UNTIL 9 PM
THIS EVENING.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 5 PM EDT THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM CHARLEY WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 36.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE  77.0 WEST. THIS POSITION IS OVER
NORTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA AND ABOUT 75 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF
NORFOLK VIRGINIA. CHARLEY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHEAST NEAR
30 MPH AND A GRADUAL TURN TOWARD THE NORTHEAST IS EXPECTED ON
SUNDAY. CHARLEY WILL EXIT EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA EARLY THIS EVENING.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 70 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. WEAKENING
IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

WIND GUSTS IN THE 40 TO 60 MPH RANGE WILL BE POSSIBLE MAINLY ACROSS
THE OUTER BANKS...AND COUNTIES ADJACENT TO THE ALBEMARLE SOUND AND
EASTERN PAMLICO SOUND THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON...AND
POSSIBLY INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
WATER LEVELS ALONG THE COAST...SOUNDS...AND IN THE PAMLICO
...NEUSE...AND PUNGO RIVERS WILL BEGIN TO RECEDE AS TROPICAL STORM
CHARLEY MOVES NORTHEAST OF THE AREA EARLY THIS EVENING.

...RAINFALL IMPACTS...
RAINFALL ASSOCIATED WITH CHARLEY WILL END ACROSS THE ALBEMARLE AND
OUTER BANKS COUNTIES OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA LATE THIS AFTERNOON.
DOPPLER RADAR STORM TOTAL ESTIMATES WERE AS HIGH AS 6 TO 8 INCHES
ACROSS THE COASTAL PLAINS COUNTIES FROM ONSLOW NORTHWARD TO MARTIN
WHERE FLASH FLOODING WAS REPORTED.

THE THREAT FOR ISOLATED TORNADOES WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE
ALBEMARLE AND OUTER BANKS COUNTIES OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA INTO
THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.

...MARINE INFORMATION...
SEAS OF 8 TO 12 FEET WILL RESULT IN HIGH SURF AND MINOR BEACH
EROSION.

...RIP CURRENT INFORMATION...
A HIGH THREAT OF RIP CURRENTS WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE COAST THROUGH
SUNDAY. THESE DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS WILL BE LIFE THREATENING TO
ANYONE WHO ENTERS THE WATER.
