Areas affected...Middle and western Tennessee...northern Alabama and
Georgia

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 382...

Valid 171606Z - 171730Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 382
continues.

SUMMARY...The risk for damaging winds and isolated large hail
continues across the watch area, and a downstream watch is possible
by 18z across northern portions of Alabama and Georgia.

DISCUSSION...A long-lived severe MCS continues to move
south/southeast across Severe Thunderstorm Watch 382 at 16z, with
more recent thunderstorm development along the gust front across
Middle TN aiding maintenance of strong/severe wind gust potential.
The downstream thermodynamic environment continues to destabilize,
and ample heating will result in strong instability by early
afternoon with MLCAPE in excess of 2500 J/kg. Based on current
trends, the risk for damaging winds and perhaps isolated large hail
may increase across northern portions of AL/GA, and a new downstream
Severe Thunderstorm Watch is possible prior to 18z.
