.NEW INFORMATION...
Typhoon Bolaven is now moving away from the Marianas, however
hazardous conditions could still continue for several hours.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides recommended actions for people in Guam
and the Northern Marianas.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Typhoon Warning continues for Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.

A Tropical storm warning and a Typhoon Watch continue for Guam.

A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Guam and the Northern
Marianas. Please listen closely for any Flood Warnings that might
be in effect for your area.

Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed
information about additional hazards.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 1 AM ChST...the center of Typhoon Bolaven (15W) was located near
Latitude 15.6N...Longitude 144.7E. This was About 145 miles north of
Guam. Storm Motion was north-northwest at 12 mph. Storm Intensity
was 85 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Typhoon Bolaven continues to move away from the Marianas, however
hazardous conditions could still continue for several hours.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Even though Bolaven is moving away from Guam and the CNMI, dangerous
conditions persist and warnings continue. Remain in shelter until
officials have given the all-clear.

Closely monitor NOAA weather radio or other local news outlets for
official storm information. Listen for possible changes to the
forecast.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan around 9 AM ChST...or sooner if conditions
warrant.

persist and the Tropical Storm Warning continues. Stay inside and
only evacuate if directed to do so by local officials, or if your
home is vulnerable to flooding.

Closely monitor NOAA weather radio or other local news outlets for
official storm information. Listen for possible changes to the
forecast.

The threat for damaging tropical storm force winds of 39 mph or
greater continues to diminish.

By mid-morning winds will be southwest to south 20 to 30 mph with
gusts to 40 mph.

...Coastal inundation and surf information...
The main threat of inundation has passed, however up to 1 foot may
still occur around the time of high tide, which is around 5 AM.

...Inland flooding...
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the entire area. Four to
six inches of rain has fallen already across much of Guam and an
additional 2 to 4 inches is possible through Wednesday morning.
Listen for possible flood warnings for your location, and be ready
to act if flooding rains occur.

only evacuate if directed to do so by local officials, or if your
home is vulnerable to high winds or flooding.

official storm information. Listen for possible changes to the
forecast.

...Winds...
The threat for destructive Typhoon force winds has diminished as
Bolaven departs. However, damaging tropical storm force winds of 39
mph or higher will continue overnight. Winds are expected to fall
below tropical storm force by late this morning, and will then be
southwest to south 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
The peak inundation threat has passed but minor inundation of 1 to 2
feet is still possible during high tide around 5 AM this morning.

...Inland flooding...
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the entire area. Additional
rainfall of 2 to 5 inches is possible through Wednesday morning. The
highest amounts are expected for Rota as the more-widespread showers
are found south of the center of Bolaven. See the latest forecasts
for the most up-to-date information. Listen for possible flood
warnings for your location, and be ready to act if flooding rains
occur. Soils are already wet from previous rainfall, so it won't take
much to cause flooding.

The onset of tropical storm conditions could start this morning. The
probability of tropical storm force winds is about 20 to 30 percent.

...WIND INFORMATION...
As Typhoon Bolaven curves northward over the Philippine Sea to the
west of the islands, the threat for sustained damaging winds could
increase. The latest forecast is for the possibility of tropical
storm force winds to increase this morning, especially if Bolaven
tracks farther north and east of the current forecast.

...COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION...
Inundation is likely to be minimal at this time, however conditions
could change.
