...TYPHOON BOLAVEN INTENSIFYING RAPIDLY WEST OF ANATAHAN...

.NEW INFORMATION...
The Tropical Storm Warning and Typhoon Watch for Guam are canceled as
of 8 AM ChST.

A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Agrihan, Pagan and
Alamagan.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides recommended actions for people in Guam
and the Northern Marianas.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Typhoon Warning continues for Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.

A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Agrihan, Pagan and
Alamagan.

Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed
information about additional hazards.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 7 AM ChST...the center of Typhoon Bolaven was located near
Latitude 16.4N...Longitude 144.3E...or about 90 miles west of
Anatahan, and about 130 miles northwest of Saipan. This was about
200 miles north of Guam. Storm Motion was north-northwest at 10 mph.
Storm Intensity was 115 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Typhoon Bolaven is moving away from Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan.
Winds will diminish as the day goes on. Alamagan, Pagan and Agrihan
will likely receive minimal Tropical Storm force winds today from the
edge of Typhoon Bolaven.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

During the storm...stay inside and away from windows. Do not
venture outside when high winds are occurring or during temporary
lulls as flying debris can easily...and suddenly...cause serious
injury.

Have a well-charged cell phone nearby...keeping network
communications as open as possible for emergencies.

Closely monitor NOAA weather radio or other local news outlets
for official storm information. Listen for possible changes to
the forecast.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan around 3 PM ChST...or sooner if conditions
warrant.

As Tropical storm conditions diminish, do not go outside to check for
damage or to implement temporary repairs as the wind situation will
remain somewhat dangerous until high winds fully subside. Do not open
the doors of your home or shelter. Wait for the all-clear signal.

As Typhoon Bolaven exits the area, high winds will continue to
diminish. Warnings will be discontinued as soon as the threat
completely subsides.

...COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION...
The inundation threat has passed. Dangerous surf conditions with surf
heights exceeding 15 feet are expected today. Hazardous surf
conditions are expected to continue through at least Thursday.

...WIND INFORMATION...
As Typhoon Bolaven curves northward west of the Marianas, damaging
winds of 30 to 45 mph with gusts to 60 mph will continue today. The
wind direction will start from the southeast and change to south.
Tonight the winds will turn southwest and diminish below damaging
levels.

...COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION...
Inundation is likely to be minimal at this time, however conditions
could change. Surf could become hazardous 9 to 12 feet along west
facing reefs.
