Tropical Storm Warnings for Yap and Ngulu have been cancelled.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This Local Statement provides information and recommended actions
for people in Koror and Kayangel in the Republic of Palau, and Ngulu
and Yap in Yap State.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
Tropical Storm Warnings for Ngulu and Yap in Yap State have been
cancelled. Damaging winds are no longer expected.

Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Koror and Kayangel in the
Republic of Palau. Typhoon conditions are possible in the next 2 to
3 hours.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 700 PM ChST...0900 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Rai was
located near Latitude 7.8 degrees North and Longitude 134.7 degrees
East. Rai is moving west at 20 mph. Maximum sustained winds are
65 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Winds will increase as Tropical Storm Rai continues to track in a
general west-northwest direction. Rai is expected to intensify
through Thursday, likely becoming a typhoon early Wednesday morning.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service at 3 AM Wednesday, or earlier if needed.

...NGULU AND YAP...
...TROPICAL STORM WARNING CANCELLED...

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Damaging winds are no longer expected, but gusty southeast winds
will continue through the night at around 20 mph. Seas and surf will
be hazardous overnight, gradually decreasing Wednesday. Small craft
should remain in port until conditions improve.

...WINDS...
Expect southeast winds at 15 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph
in heavy showers.

...SEAS...
Seas of 10 to 12 feet overnight will diminish to 7 to 9 feet on
Wednesday.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is possible through Wednesday.

...KOROR AND KAYANGEL...
...TYPHOON WARNING...

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
The worst conditions to be expected from Tropical Storm Rai will
be occurring between 8 PM and midnight local time as Rai passes
between Kayangel and Koror. Remain in shelter until conditions
improve. Inter-island travel is strongly discouraged for the next
couple of days.

...WIND INFORMATION...
As Rai continues west-northwest and moves away from both Koror and
Kayangel, damaging northwest winds of 35 to 50 mph gusting to 65 mph
this evening will become west 25 to 35 mph after midnight, and
diminish further to 15 to 25 mph Wednesday morning.

...SEAS...
Combined seas of 13 to 16 ft will subside to between 10 and 13 feet
after midnight, and to between 8 and 11 feet on Wednesday. Hazardous
surf up to 14 feet will subside to 9 to 12 feet Wednesday.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Coastal inundation of 1 to 3 feet is likely overnight, subsiding on
Wednesday. Inundation will be most pronounced around times of high
tide. Rainfall of 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is likely through
Wednesday.
