Areas affected...portions of western TN...western and central
KY...southern IN and southwest OH

Concerning...Tornado Watch 59...

Valid 200722Z - 200845Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 59 continues.

SUMMARY...Convection may sporadically intensify through the early
morning hours. Strong, locally damaging gusts will be the main
concern, though a tornado cannot be ruled out in the short-term.

DISCUSSION...Thunderstorm clusters across western TN, western KY and
southern IN have periodically shown increases in intensity with some
supercell and bowing segment characteristics evident in radar data
over the past couple of hours. However, intensity has not been
sustained for long periods of time. The overall environment
continues to display intense shear with enlarged low level
hodographs per regional VWP data. Instability remains weak, with
generally 500 J/kg apparent via 07z mesoanalysis. Surface inhibition
is likely playing some deleterious role in sustaining more intense
convection. As a result, a low-end severe threat will likely
continue through the night/early morning hours across portions of
southern IN, western/central KY into western and middle TN, but will
be too sporadic to warrant a new downstream watch, though in the
short-term, local extension of WW 59 are possible.
