Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 31N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
2130 UTC.

...SPECIAL FEATURES...

Atlantic Gale Warning: A cold front extends from 31N69W to
eastern Cuba. SW gale- force winds, and seas to 16 ft, prevail
ahead of the front and north of 30N. The gale force winds are
forecast to continue through tonight before diminishing Tuesday.

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough passes through the coastal plains of Liberia
near 06N10W, to 06N18W. The ITCZ continues from 06N18W to
06N23W, 03N30W, 01N35W, and to the Equator along 44W.
Precipitation: widely scattered moderate to isolated strong is
from 08N southward.

GULF OF MEXICO...

High pressure is building across the Gulf waters. Moderate to
fresh winds, locally strong over the NE Gulf, prevail over the
eastern Gulf with light to gentle winds over the western Gulf.
Seas are in the 8-10 ft range over the SE Gulf, 5-8 ft over the
NE Gulf, 3-6 ft over the SW Gulf, and 1-3 ft over the NW Gulf.

For the forecast,

CARIBBEAN SEA...

Moderate to fresh winds prevail west of the front, reaching
locally strong speeds over the waters off NE Honduras. Gentle to
moderate winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 5-7 ft range
west of the front, 4-6 ft over the south central and eastern
Caribbean, and 1-3 ft elsewhere.

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

A Gale Warning remains in effect for portions of the western
Atlantic. Please, see the Special Features section for more
information.

Aside form the area of gale force winds ahead of the cold front,
strong to near-gale force winds prevail west of the front and
north of 24N as well as within 360 nm east of the front and
north of 24N. Seas over this area are in the 8-17 ft range.
Gentle to moderate winds prevail across the remainder of the
discussion waters.
