Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
1100 UTC.

Atlantic Ocean Storm Warning: DISSIPATING COLD FRONT FROM 31N39W
TO 17N55W. N OF 30N BETWEEN 60W AND 65W SW TO W WINDS 40 TO 50
KT...EXCEPT W TO NW WINDS W OF 62W. SEAS 27 TO 31 FT. ELSEWHERE N
OF 28N BETWEEN 55W AND 67W SW TO W WINDS 30 TO 40 KT...EXCEPT W TO

Atlantic Ocean Gale Warning: 36 HOUR FORECAST COLD FRONT FROM
31N74W TO 26N80W. N OF 29N WITHIN 90 NM E OF FRONT SW WINDS 30 TO
35 KT. SEAS 13 TO 16 FT.

AWIPS header MIAHSFAT2, and under the WMO header FZNT02 KNHC for
more details.

Large northerly swell will continue to push through the Atlantic
Ocean passages, through mid-week. This large swell also will
propagate through the Tropical North Atlantic Ocean waters through
the week. Trade winds will strengthen in the central Caribbean Sea,
increasing seas to 8-10 feet by mid-week. Please read the Offshore
Waters Forecast, under the AWIPS header MIAOFFNT3, and under the
WMO header FZNT23 KNHC, for more details.

A dissipating cold front is along 17N57W, across the island of
Dominica, to 14N67W. Precipitation: isolated moderate to locally
strong rainshowers are from 10N to 15N between 59W and 69W, near
Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, and the other islands in
the SE corner of the Caribbean Sea. Five inches of rain were
reported in Trinidad, during the 24 hours that ended at 05 March/1200
UTC, per the PAN AMERICAN TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION
TABLES...MIATPTPAN/SXCA01 KNHC.

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough passes through coastal sections of Sierra
Leone near 08N13W, to 03N21W. The ITCZ continues from 03N21W to
the Equator along 31W, to the Equator along 40W, to 01N45W, to
the coast of Brazil near 01N50W. Precipitation: widely scattered
moderate to isolated strong from 03N southward, to the coast of
Brazil, between 40W and 48W.

...DISCUSSION...

GULF OF MEXICO...

A cold front is along the Texas coast at this time. Scattered to
broken multilayered clouds cover the Gulf waters to the north of
the line 30N82W 26N84W 25N90W 23N98W. Upper level westerly wind
flow is apparent in water vapor imagery.

Broad surface anticyclonic wind flow covers the area from 20N
northward between 70W and 90W, including parts of the NW Caribbean
Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and the eastern Gulf of Mexico, Florida,
and the Bahamas. A 1018 mb high pressure center is near 29N81W in
Florida.

The current Texas coast cold front will shift across the forecast
waters through Wednesday night, and then SE of the area on
Thursday. High pressure will build in the wake of the front.

CARIBBEAN SEA...

A dissipating cold front is along 17N57W, across the island of

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

Gale force winds N of 28N E of 67W will shift E of the area this
morning. Large mixed northerly swell will affect all the waters E
of Florida and the Bahamas through mid-week. Another cold front
will impact the waters E of Florida tonight and Wed, then shift E
of the area by the end of the week. Gale force winds are expected
N of 29N E of the front Wed.
