POST-TROPICAL CYCLONE HERMINE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHEAST
NEAR 3 MPH. IT IS FORECAST TO TRACK SLOWLY NORTHWARD OVER THE
NEXT FEW DAYS. THE CLOSEST APPROACH OF HERMINE WILL BE
APPROXIMATELY 165 MILES SOUTHEAST OF MONTAUK POINT.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR LONG ISLAND...NEW YORK
CITY...AND SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK...
HUDSON...EASTERN ESSEX AND UNION COUNTIES IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY...
COASTAL CONNECTICUT...AND ALL ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS. SUSTAINED
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED IN THESE AREAS. TROPICAL STORM
FORCE GUSTS ARE POSSIBLE A LITTLE FARTHER INLAND.

SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE WITH MODERATE TO MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING IS
POSSIBLE AROUND THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE FROM SUNDAY ONWARD. HAZARDOUS
SEAS...DANGEROUSLY ROUGH SURF...AND A LIFE THREATENING RIP CURRENT
RISK CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND INTO EARLY NEXT
WEEK.

THE FORECAST AREA WILL RESIDE ON THE NORTHWEST PERIPHERY OF THE RAIN
SHIELD ASSOCIATED WITH HERMINE. THEREFORE...NO HEAVY RAINFALL IS

    - LOCALIZED INUNDATION WITH STORM SURGE FLOODING MAINLY ALONG
      IMMEDIATE SHORELINES AND IN LOW-LYING SPOTS, OR IN AREAS
      FARTHER INLAND NEAR WHERE HIGHER SURGE WATERS MOVE ASHORE.
    - SECTIONS OF NEAR-SHORE ROADS AND PARKING LOTS BECOME OVERSPREAD
      WITH SURGE WATER. DRIVING CONDITIONS DANGEROUS IN PLACES WHERE
      SURGE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
    - MODERATE BEACH EROSION. HEAVY SURF ALSO BREACHING DUNES, MAINLY
      IN USUALLY VULNERABLE LOCATIONS. STRONG AND FREQUENT RIP
      CURRENTS.
    - MINOR TO LOCALLY MODERATE DAMAGE TO MARINAS, DOCKS, BOARDWALKS,
      AND PIERS. A FEW SMALL CRAFT BROKEN AWAY FROM MOORINGS.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT, LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.

* OTHER COASTAL HAZARDS:
BATTERING SURF CAPABLE OF CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DUNE EROSION AND
OVERWASHES IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE EARLY WEEK. DANGEROUSLY ROUGH
SURF...AND A LIFE THREATENING RIP CURRENT RISK IS EXPECTED
THROUGH THE EARLY WEEK.

* WIND:
PROTECT AGAINST HAZARDOUS WIND HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED IMPACTS ACROSS
SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK...NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHERN
CONNECTICUT. POTENTIAL IMPACTS INCLUDE:
    - DAMAGE TO PORCHES, AWNINGS, CARPORTS, SHEDS, AND UNANCHORED
