SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

TROPICAL STORM HERMINE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE NORTHEAST ACROSS
SOUTHEAST GEORGIA AND SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA THROUGH THIS EVENING
WHILE WEAKENING SOMEWHAT. SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS FROM HERMINE WILL END
SPREADING FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING.

THERE IS A THREAT FOR TORNADOES ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN GEORGIA INTO EARLY
THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO LATE AFTERNOON ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN SOUTH
CAROLINA. THERE IS ALSO A THREAT FOR WATER SPOUTS OVER THE COASTAL
WATERS.

WIDESPREAD TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS...ESPECIALLY WIND GUSTS...ARE
ONGOING AND ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE UNTIL LATE THIS AFTERNOON IN
SOUTHEAST GEORGIA AND THIS EVENING IN SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA.
SUSTAINED WINDS COULD REACH AS HIGH AS 30 TO 40 MPH INLAND AND TO
40 TO 50 MPH NEAR THE COAST. WINDS GUSTS OF 50 TO 60 MPH WILL BE
POSSIBLE...HIGHEST CLOSER TO THE COAST. THESE WINDS COULD DAMAGE TREES
AND WEAK STRUCTURES AND RESULT IN SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES.

HERMINE WILL ALSO PRODUCE STORM TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS RANGING FROM
3 TO 5 INCHES NEAR THE COAST UP TO 6 TO 8 INCHES WELL INLAND...WITH
ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. MUCH OF THE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL THIS
AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING WILL OCCUR WELL INLAND AND THIS IS THE AREA
WHERE LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING IS MOST LIKELY.

FINALLY...DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS WILL CONTINUE. BEACH EROSION AND
MINOR SALT WATER FLOODING ARE ALSO POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY AROUND THE
EVENING HIGH TIDE IN SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA.

 WIND:
POTENTIAL IMPACTS FROM THE MAIN WIND EVENT ARE NOW UNFOLDING ACROSS
SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA AND SOUTHEAST GEORGIA. IF REALIZED, THESE IMPACTS INCLUDE:
    - SOME DAMAGE TO ROOFING AND SIDING MATERIALS, ALONG WITH DAMAGE
TO PORCHES, AWNINGS, CARPORTS, AND SHEDS. A FEW BUILDINGS
EXPERIENCING WINDOW, DOOR, AND GARAGE DOOR FAILURES. MOBILE
HOMES DAMAGED, ESPECIALLY IF UNANCHORED. UNSECURED LIGHTWEIGHT
      OBJECTS BECOME DANGEROUS PROJECTILES.
    - SEVERAL LARGE TREES SNAPPED OR UPROOTED, BUT WITH GREATER
NUMBERS IN PLACES WHERE TREES ARE SHALLOW ROOTED. SEVERAL
FENCES AND ROADWAY SIGNS BLOWN OVER.
    - SOME ROADS IMPASSABLE FROM LARGE DEBRIS, AND MORE WITHIN URBAN
OR HEAVILY WOODED PLACES. A FEW BRIDGES AND ACCESS ROUTES
      IMPASSABLE.
    - TRAVEL BY VEHICLE OR ON FOOT INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT. INCREASING
DANGER OF DEATH OR INJURY FROM FALLING OBJECTS SUCH AS TREES OR
      ELECTRIC WIRES OUTSIDE.
    - SCATTERED POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS OUTAGES, BUT MORE PREVALENT
IN AREAS WITH ABOVE GROUND LINES, WHICH COULD PERSIST FOR HOURS
      OR DAYS.
    - SOME POORLY SECURED SMALL CRAFT COULD BREAK LOOSE FROM THEIR
      MOORINGS.

* TORNADOES:
POTENTIAL IMPACTS FROM TORNADOES ARE STILL UNFOLDING ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN
GEORGIA AND SOUTHEASTERN SOUTH CAROLINA. SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS IF
REALIZED INCLUDE:
    - ISOLATED TORNADOES CAN HINDER THE EXECUTION OF EMERGENCY PLANS.
    - ISOLATED LOCATIONS COULD EXPERIENCE TORNADO DAMAGE, ALONG WITH
      POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS DISRUPTIONS.
    - IN ISOLATED LOCATIONS, TORNADOES COULD DAMAGE TREES, VEHICLES,
BOATS AND BUILDINGS, ESPECIALLY MOBILE HOMES AND AND OTHER
      POORLY CONSTRUCTED STRUCTURES.

* FLOODING RAIN:
POTENTIAL IMPACTS FROM THE FLOODING RAIN ARE STILL UNFOLDING ACROSS
SOUTHEASTERN GEORGIA AND SOUTHEASTERN SOUTH CAROLINA. IF REALIZED, THESE
IMPACTS INCLUDE:
    - MODERATE RAINFALL FLOODING MAY PROMPT SOME EVACUATIONS AND
      RESCUES.
    - RIVERS AND TRIBUTARIES MAY QUICKLY BECOME SWOLLEN WITH SWIFTER
CURRENTS AND OVERSPILL THEIR BANKS IN A FEW PLACES, ESPECIALLY
IN NORMALLY VULNERABLE SPOTS. SMALL STREAMS, CREEKS, CANALS,
      AND DITCHES OVERFLOW.
    - FLOOD WATERS CAN ENTER SOME STRUCTURES OR WEAKEN FOUNDATIONS.
SEVERAL PLACES MAY EXPERIENCE EXPANDED AREAS OF RAPID
INUNDATION AT UNDERPASSES, LOW-LYING SPOTS, AND POOR DRAINAGE
AREAS. SOME STREETS AND PARKING LOTS TAKE ON MOVING WATER AS
STORM DRAINS AND RETENTION PONDS OVERFLOW. DRIVING CONDITIONS
BECOME HAZARDOUS. SOME ROAD AND BRIDGE CLOSURES.

* SURGE:
PROTECT AGAINST LOCALLY HAZARDOUS SURGE HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED
IMPACTS ACROSS SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA AND SOUTHEAST GEORGIA.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS IN THIS AREA INCLUDE:
    - LOCALIZED INUNDATION OF SALTWATER MAINLY ALONG IMMEDIATE
SHORELINES AND IN LOW-LYING SPOTS FARTHER INLAND NEAR RIVERS
      AND CREEKS.
    - SECTIONS OF NEAR-SHORE ROADS AND PARKING LOTS BECOME OVERSPREAD
WITH SURGE WATER. DRIVING CONDITIONS HAZARDOUS IN PLACES WHERE
      SURGE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
    - MINOR TO MODERATE BEACH EROSION. HEAVY SURF POSSIBLY BREACHING
DUNES, MAINLY IN NORMALLY VULNERABLE LOCATIONS. STRONG RIP
      CURRENTS.
    - MINOR TO LOCALLY MODERATE DAMAGE TO MARINAS, DOCKS, BOARDWALKS,
AND PIERS. A FEW SMALL CRAFT BROKEN AWAY FROM MOORINGS.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA AND SOUTHEAST GEORGIA,
LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.
