SITUATION OVERVIEW

MATTHEW CONTINUES TO PULL AWAY FROM EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA THIS
AFTERNOON AND AS OF 5 PM WAS LOCATED 70 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF
DAYTONA BEACH.
EARLY REPORTS SHOW SIGNIFICANT BEACH EROSION FOLLOWING THE
PASSAGE OF HURRICANE MATTHEW IN AT LEAST A FEW LOCATIONS. THOUGH
SEAS WILL BE RECEDING, ADDITIONAL EROSION AND MINOR COASTAL
FLOODING IS POSSIBLE.
WHILE THE MAIN WIND EVENT IS OVER, CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN BREEZY
TO WINDY THIS EVENING. TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS WILL BE CONFINED
TO COASTAL SECTIONS OF VOLUSIA COUNTY WHERE FREQUENT WIND GUSTS IN
EXCESS OF 40 MPH WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS EVENING.
LITTLE IN THE WAY OF ADDITIONAL RAINFALL ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED
TODAY, HOWEVER, STREAMS AND LAKES ARE ELEVATED ACROSS PARTS OF THE
AREA FROM RECENT HEAVY RAINS. STANDING WATER OVER SOME ROADWAYS
AND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS WILL CONTINUE.
RESIDENTS AND VISITORS TO EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ARE STRONGLY
ENCOURAGED TO MONITOR THE LATEST PRODUCTS ISSUED BY YOUR LOCAL
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS

* WIND:
FREQUENT GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE WILL CONTINUE ACROSS VOLUSIA
COUNTY THROUGH THIS EVENING. ELSEWHERE, IT WILL REMAIN BREEZY TO WINDY.
* SURGE:
AN ELEVATED TO MODERATE RISK FOR STORM SURGE CONTINUES ACROSS COASTAL
SECTIONS AND ALONG BARRIER ISLANDS OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.
* FLOODING RAIN:
LITTLE IN THE WAY OF ADDITIONAL RAINFALL IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE
REGION, HOWEVER, AREAS OF STANDING WATER REMAIN OVER SOME LOCAL
ROADWAYS, ESPECIALLY WHERE HEAVY RAINS FELL OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS.
* TORNADOES:
LITTLE TO NO ADDITIONAL IMPACTS ARE ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME
ACROSS EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.
