HURRICANE MATTHEW WILL MOVE ACROSS THE BAHAMAS OVERNIGHT THROUGH
THURSDAY. ON THE FORECAST TRACK...THE CENTER OF MATTHEW SHOULD PASS
NEAR ANDROS ISLAND AND NEW PROVIDENCE ISLAND OVERNIGHT...THEN VERY
NEAR THE EAST COAST OF THE FLORIDA PENINSULA THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY NIGHT. STRENGTHENING IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 24 TO 36
HOURS...AND MATTHEW IF FORECAST TO BE A CATEGORY FOUR HURRICANE AS
IT APPROACHES FLORIDA. ON THE FORECAST TRACK...THE CORE OF HURRICANE
MATTHEW WILL PASS EAST OF THE FLORIDA KEYS...WITH TROPICAL STORM
CONDITIONS EXPECTED.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS

POTENTIAL IMPACTS IN THIS AREA INCLUDE:
- UNSECURED LIGHTWEIGHT OBJECTS BECOME DANGEROUS PROJECTILES.
- SCATTERED POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS OUTAGES.
ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE FLORIDA KEYS...LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS
EXPECTED.
* SURGE:
PROTECT AGAINST LOCALLY HAZARDOUS SURGE HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED
IMPACTS ACROSS THE FLORIDA KEYS...ALONG THE SHORE. POTENTIAL
IMPACTS IN THIS AREA INCLUDE:
- LOCALIZED INUNDATION WITH STORM SURGE FLOODING MAINLY ALONG
IMMEDIATE SHORELINES AND IN LOW-LYING SPOTS.
- SECTIONS OF NEAR-SHORE ROADS AND PARKING LOTS BECOME OVERSPREAD
WITH SURGE WATER. DRIVING CONDITIONS DANGEROUS IN PLACES WHERE
SURGE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
* FLOODING RAIN:
MINOR FLOODING OF SECONDARY ROADWAYS IS POSSIBLE.
