THE CENTER OF HURRICANE ARTHUR IS MAKING ITS CLOSEST PASS TO
SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND THIS EVENING. WIND IS THE MAIN CONCERN ACROSS
THE COASTAL WATERS AND IMMEDIATE COASTAL AREAS. HEAVY RAINFALL IS
THE PRIMARY CONCERN INLAND. COASTAL AREAS ARE AT RISK FOR HIGH
SURF AND DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS.

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE LIKELY OCCURRING ON PORTIONS OF
CAPE COD. AS ARTHUR MAKES ITS CLOSEST PASS TO THE AREA THIS
EVENING INTO TONIGHT... TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED.
MAXIMUM WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE 35 TO 45 MPH RANGE WITH
GUSTS TO 65 MPH. THE STRONGEST WIND GUSTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ON
NANTUCKET.
MINOR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO OLDER MOBILE HOMES. LOOSE ITEMS SUCH AS
GARBAGE CANS AND OUTDOOR FURNITURE WILL BE BLOWN AROUND. NEWLY

PROPERLY. SMALL TREE LIMBS MAY BE DOWNED. ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES

THE COMBINATION OF SOME STORM SURGE AND HEAVY RAINFALL HAS CAUSED
FLOODING ON SOME STREETS IN NANTUCKET. THIS MAY PERSIST FOR A
PERIOD OF TIME THIS EVENING. OTHERWISE...THE IMPACT FROM COMBINED
STORM SURGE AND TIDE WATERS IS EXPECTED TO BE LOW. SPLASHOVER IS
POSSIBLE. THE MAIN THREATS FOR COASTAL AREAS WILL BE HIGH
SURF...RIP CURRENTS AND SOME BEACH EROSION. THE COMBINATION OF
