AT 10 AM CDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE ISAAC WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 29.6N...LONGITUDE 90.7W. THIS WAS ABOUT 170 MILES
WEST-SOUTHWEST OF MOBILE AL. STORM MOTION NORTHWEST AT 6 MPH. STORM
INTENSITY WAS 75 MPH.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE OCCURRING ALONG THE
IMMEDIATE COAST OF ALABAMA WITH TROPICAL STORM FORCE WIND GUSTS
EXTENDING INTO BOTH INTERIOR SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHEASTERN
MISSISSIPPI.
SQUALLS AND VERY HEAVY RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE HURRICANE WILL AFFECT
THE AREA THROUGH TONIGHT. WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS
ARE FORECAST TO ACCOMPANY THIS SYSTEM. STORM TOTALS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES
ARE EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI AND SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA...
WITH 12 INCHES LOCALLY. RAINFALL TOTALS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED
FURTHER EAST ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL ALABAMA AND THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE.
A TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR INLAND SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI
AND PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST ALABAMA. THE GREATEST SHORT TERM TORNADO
THREAT WILL BE OVER COASTAL ALABAMA AND INTERIOR SOUTHEAST
MISSISSIPPI ALONG ISAAC'S OUTER RAIN BANDS.
SEAS OVER THE COASTAL WATERS ARE NOW AS HIGH AS 12 TO 22 FEET...HIGHEST
OVER THE ALABAMA COASTAL WATERS. BREAKERS AT THE BEACHES AS HIGH AS 7
TO 12 FEET.
AS WITH ALL TROPICAL SYSTEMS...THE RIP CURRENT RISK WILL REMAIN AT
HIGH LEVELS FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

WITH GUSTS OF 50 TO 55 MPH. FURTHER INLAND...WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH ARE
OCCURRING WITH GUSTS TO 40 TO 45 MPH. THESE WINDS WILL CONTINUE
THROUGH THE REST OF THE MORNING...WITH WINDS GRADUALLY BEGINNING TO
DIMINISH THIS AFTERNOON AS ISAAC BEGINS TO WEAKEN.
...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
COMBINED STORM SURGE AND ASTRONOMICAL TIDE WATERS WILL RESULT IN
FLOOD INUNDATION OF 3 TO 5 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL. THE PERIOD OF
GREATEST IMPACT WILL BE LATE MORNING THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. HIGH
TIDE HAS PAST OR IS CURRENTLY OCCURRING ACROSS THE AREA.
THE AREAS LIKELY TO RECEIVE THE GREATEST FLOODING WILL BE THE WEST OF
DAUPHIN ISLAND...BAYOU LA BATRE...CODEN...THE UPPER REACHES OF MOBILE
BAY AND ADJOINING RIVERS THAT FLOW INTO THEM. THE MOBILE BAY
CAUSEWAY IS CURRENTLY FLOODED AND CLOSED. FLOODING IS LIKELY
BEGINNING TO OCCUR ON WATER STREET IN DOWNTOWN MOBILE.
