AND GULF COASTAL WATERS DESTIN TO PASCAGOULA OUT 60 NM. PLEASE
LISTEN CLOSELY FOR ANY TORNADO WARNINGS THAT MIGHT BE IN EFFECT

AT 5 AM CDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE ISAAC WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 29.2N...LONGITUDE 90.5W. THIS WAS ABOUT 170 MILES
SOUTHWEST OF MOBILE AL...OR ABOUT 220 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF
PENSACOLA FL. STORM MOTION WAS WNW OR 300 DEGREES AT 8 MPH. STORM
INTENSITY WAS 80 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...

SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE OCCURRING ALONG THE
IMMEDIATE COASTS OF ALABAMA WITH TROPICAL STORM FORCE WIND GUSTS
EXTENDING INTO BOTH INTERIOR SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHEASTERN
MISSISSIPPI AND THE NORTHWEST FLORIDA PANHANDLE.

SQUALLS AND VERY HEAVY RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE HURRICANE WILL AFFECT
THE AREA THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS
ARE FORECAST TO ACCOMPANY THIS SYSTEM. STORM TOTALS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES
ARE EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI AND SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA...
WITH 12 INCHES LOCALLY. RAINFALL TOTALS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED
FURTHER EAST ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL ALABAMA AND THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE.

A TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF THE AREA. THE GREATEST
SHORT TERM TORNADO THREAT WILL BE OVER COASTAL ALABAMA AND INTERIOR
SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI ALONG ISAAC'S OUTER RAINBANDS.

SEAS OVER THE COASTAL WATERS ARE NOW AS HIGH AS 17 TO 22 FEET...WITH
BREAKERS AT THE BEACHES AS HIGH AS 8 TO 13 FEET.

AS WITH ALL TROPICAL SYSTEMS...THE RIP CURRENT RISK WILL REMAIN AT
HIGH LEVELS FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

FLOODING IS IN PROGRESS. HOWEVER...THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE IS
APPROACHING LATER THIS MORNING.

WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH ARE EXPECTED...
ESPECIALLY NEAR THE COAST WINDS ARE NOT FORECAST TO FALL BELOW
TROPICAL STORM FORCE LATER TODAY.

AS OF 5 AM CDT...THE LATEST REGIONAL OBSERVATIONS OVER COASTAL
ALABAMA SHOW SUSTAINED WINDS THAT RANGED FROM 20 MPH OVER INLAND
AREAS TO NEAR 30 MPH ALONG THE BEACHES AND BAY SHORELINES. THE
HIGHEST WIND GUST DURING THE PAST HOUR WAS 40 MPH AT BROOKLEY FIELD
IN DOWNTOWN MOBILE...54 MPH AT THE EAST END OF DAUPHIN ISLAND AND 47
