FROM JUPITER INLET TO DEERFIELD BEACH FROM 20 NAUTICAL MILES OUT

FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT
FOR THE NEARSHORE WATERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY AS WELL AS THE

EAST-SOUTHEAST OF WEST PALM BEACH FL...OR ABOUT 330 MILES
EAST-SOUTHEAST OF MIAMI FL. STORM MOTION WAS NW OR 315 DEGREES AT
12 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS 120 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
MAJOR HURRICANE IRENE...CURRENTLY CENTERED OVER THE BAHAMAS...IS
FORECAST TO MOVE NORTH NORTHWEST INTO THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS
APPROXIMATELY 200 MILES EAST OF PALM BEACH COUNTY THURSDAY
THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT AS A LARGE AND POWERFUL CATEGORY 4
HURRICANE.

AT THIS TIME...THE MAIN CONCERN WITH HURRICANE IRENE IS SUSTAINED
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS AND HAZARDOUS SEAS EXPECTED ACROSS THE
OFFSHORE WATERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY EXTENDING FROM 20 NAUTICAL
MILES OUT TO THE TERRITORIAL WATERS OF THE BAHAMAS. IN ADDITION...

WEEKEND. THE HIGHEST SURF IS EXPECTED TO REACH UP TO 8 TO 11 FEET
ALONG THE PALM BEACH COUNTY BEACHES AND 4 TO 6 FEET ALONG THE
BROWARD AND MIAMI DADE COUNTY BEACHES. THIS WILL LIKELY RESULT IN
MODERATE BEACH EROSION...EXCEPT LOCALLY SEVERE EROSION ALONG THE
PALM BEACH COUNTY BEACHES. AS A RESULT...A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MAY
