FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON HURRICANE
IRENE LOCATED ABOUT 400 MILES SOUTHEAST OF NASSAU.
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DIMINISHED IN ASSOCIATION WITH A
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 1100 MILES WEST-NORTHWEST
OF THE NORTHERN CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. ALTHOUGH THE LOW IS MOVING
WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH TOWARD WARMER WATERS...
UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE UNFAVORABLE FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT.
THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...NEAR 0 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A
TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE INCREASED AND BECOME A LITTLE BETTER
ORGANIZED IN ASSOCIATION WITH A BROAD LOW PRESSURE AREA LOCATED
ABOUT 125 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHERN CAPE VERDE ISLANDS.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS APPEAR GENERALLY FAVORABLE FOR SLOW
DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LOW DURING THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. THIS SYSTEM
HAS A MEDIUM CHANCE...40 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE
DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH.
ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.
