TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 PM EDT WED AUG 17 2005
...RE-TRANSMITTED...
FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON TROPICAL
STORM IRENE...LOCATED ABOUT 590 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF CAPE RACE
NEWFOUNDLAND.
THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION TEN ARE CENTERED ABOUT 300 MILES
EAST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS. ALTHOUGH THIS SYSTEM HAS BEEN
MAINTAINING A BROAD CIRCULATION AND AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...THE
ASSOCIATED THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY REMAINS POORLY ORGANIZED.
UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE STILL NOT PARTICULARLY FAVORABLE FOR
DEVELOPMENT...BUT COULD GRADUALLY BECOME MORE FAVORABLE OVER THE
NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RE-DEVELOP
INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION LATER TODAY OR ON THURSDAY...AND AN AIR
FORCE RESERVE UNIT RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT IS SCHEDULED TO
INVESTIGATE THE AREA ON THURSDAY...IF NECESSARY. THE REMNANTS OF
THE DEPRESSION ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE ON A WEST-NORTHWESTWARD
TRACK AND SHOULD PASS TO THE NORTH OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS...
HOWEVER...INTERESTS IN THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS AND THE VIRGIN
ISLANDS SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM.
ELSEWHERE... TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
THURSDAY.
