FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON HURRICANE
IRENE...LOCATED ABOUT 830 MILES SOUTHWEST OF CAPE RACE NEWFOUNDLAND.
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...THE REMNANT OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION TEN...
IS LOCATED ABOUT 550 MILES EAST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS.
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY WITH THIS SYSTEM HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT
TODAY...BUT HAS BEEN INCREASING AGAIN OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS.
UPPER-LEVEL WINDS...WHILE NOT CURRENTLY FAVORABLE FOR
REDEVELOPMENT...COULD BECOME MORE FAVORABLE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF
DAYS...AND THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO REDEVELOP INTO A
TROPICAL DEPRESSION AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH.
ELSEWHERE... TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
WEDNESDAY.
