TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 AM EDT MON AUG 01 2005

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

A TROPICAL WAVE...ACCOMPANIED BY A WEAK SURFACE LOW PRESSURE AREA
...IS MOVING WESTWARD AT 20 MPH ACROSS THE SOUTHEASTERN CARIBBEAN
SEA. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE GRADUALLY BEEN INCREASING...AND
UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE SOMEWHAT FAVORABLE FOR SOME ADDITIONAL
DEVELOPMENT TO OCCUR OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. AN AIR FORCE
RESERVE UNIT RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT IS SCHEDULED TO INVESTIGATE
THE SYSTEM THIS AFTERNOON...IF NECESSARY.

WIDESPREAD CLOUDINESS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BECOME A LITTLE MORE
CONCENTRATED ABOUT 400 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE TURKS AND CAICOS
ISLANDS. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE CURRENTLY UNFAVORABLE FOR TROPICAL
CYCLONE DEVELOPMENT TO OCCUR IN THIS AREA...BUT THEY MAY BECOME A
LITTLE MORE FAVORABLE DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO.

A LARGE NON-TROPICAL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS LOCATED OVER THE CENTRAL
ATLANTIC ABOUT 1150 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE AZORES ISLANDS. SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO INCREASE AND BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED
...AND THIS SYSTEM COULD BECOME A SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE OVER THE NEXT
DAY OR SO AS IT MOVES SLOWLY NORTHWARD.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
TUESDAY.
