THIS STATEMENT APPLIES TO JEFFERSON AND ORANGE COUNTIES IN SOUTHEAST
TEXAS...AS WELL AS IBERIA...VERMILION...SAINT MARY...IBERIA...
CAMERON...AND SAINT MARTIN PARISHES IN SOUTHERN LOUISIANA.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MORGAN CITY LOUISIANA
TO HIGH ISLAND TEXAS. A TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS WINDS OF 39 MPH
OR GREATER CAN BE EXPECTED WITHIN THE NEXT 12 TO 24 HOURS.
A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH-CENTRAL
LOUISIANA...WHICH INCLUDES THE PARISHES ALONG AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE
10...PLUS ALL OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

AT 10 AM CDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM IVAN WAS LOCATED AT 29.2
NORTH...92.7 WEST...OR 97 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MORGAN CITY LOUISIANA...
55 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CAMERON LOUISIANA...AND 77 MILES SOUTHEAST OF
SABINE PASS TEXAS.
TROPICAL STORM IVAN IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 15 MPH.
THIS MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON...WHICH WOULD
BRING THE CENTER ACROSS THE COASTLINE IN THE VICINITY OF SABINE PASS
LATE THIS AFTERNOON OR EARLY THIS EVENING.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 60 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS...MAINLY IN
SQUALLS TO THE NORTH AND EAST OF THE CENTER. SOME FLUCTUATIONS IN
INTENSITY ARE POSSIBLE BEFORE LANDFALL.
...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
RESIDENTS NEAR THE COAST SHOULD BE ALERT TO COASTAL FLOODING...
ESPECIALLY DURING PERIODS OF HIGH ASTRONOMICAL TIDES...SEE BELOW.
DANGEROUS SURF AND RIP CURRENTS WILL OCCUR THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT...AND RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO STAY OUT OF THE SURF UNTIL IVAN
HAS PASSED.
...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
STORM SURGE AND TIDAL VALUES WILL RUN BETWEEN 2 AND 4 FEET ABOVE
NORMAL. THIS MEANS OVERALL WATER LEVELS WILL FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 2 AND
3 FEET NEAR THE TIMES OF LOW TIDE BY THIS EVENING...TO AS MUCH AS 5
FEET DURING THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. THE TIDAL
TIMES FOR THURSDAY AND FRIDAY ARE AS FOLLOWS:
AT SABINE PASS THIS AFTERNOON...A LOW TIDE OF 0.0 FEET AT 6:18 PM. ON
FRIDAY...HIGH TIDE OF 2.2 FEET AT 2:39 AM.
AT CAMERON THIS AFTERNOON...LOW TIDE OF 0.0 FEET AT 5:32 PM. ON
FRIDAY...HIGH TIDE OF 2.7 FEET AT 1:43 AM.
AT VERMILION BAY THIS AFTERNOON...LOW TIDE OF 0.0 FEET AT 6:23 PM. ON
FRIDAY...HIGH TIDE OF 2.2 FEET AT 3:25 AM.
...TORNADO IMPACTS...
THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS FOR ISOLATED TORNADOES THIS AFTERNOON AS THE
RAINBANDS OF IVAN MOVE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PARISHES OF LOUISIANA AND
COUNTIES OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS.
...RAINFALL IMPACTS...
A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS...SOUTHWEST
AND SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA THROUGH TONIGHT. RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE
EXPECTED TO AVERAGE BETWEEN TWO AND FOUR INCHES OVER SOUTHEAST TEXAS
AND SOUTHERN LOUISIANA THIS AFTERNOON...WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF FIVE
TO TEN INCHES POSSIBLE ALONG THE PATH OF IVAN.
...WIND IMPACTS...
WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO 35 TO 40 KNOTS...WITH GUSTS TO 55
KNOTS POSSIBLE...OVER THE COASTAL WATERS THIS AFTERNOON. SEAS OF 10
TO 15 FEET...MAINLY TO THE NORTH AND EAST OF IVAN'S CENTER...CAN ALSO
BE EXPECTED. INLAND...EXPECT SUSTAINED WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH
GUSTS OVER 40 MPH ACROSS SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS.

MINOR BACKWATER TIDAL FLOODING IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT ALONG THE LOWER
CALCASIEU RIVER DUE TO ONSHORE WINDS TO THE RIGHT AND IN THE WAKE OF
IVAN'S CENTER.
