THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA
COASTAL AREAS FROM THE MOUTH OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER WESTWARD
INCLUDING GRAND ISLE.

AT 100 AM CDT...TROPICAL STORM IVAN WAS LOCATED AT 27.7 NORTH AND
90.8 WEST OR ABOUT 145 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE MOUTH OF THE
MISSISSIPPI RIVER. IVAN IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NORTHWEST 13
MPH...AND THIS MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE DURING THE NEXT 24
HOURS.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME
STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

RESIDENTS IN WARNING AREA SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR ABOVE NORMAL
TIDES...WIND GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE...40 MPH OR HIGHER...AND
OCCASIONAL HEAVY RAIN. RESIDENTS IN LOW LYING COASTAL AREA SHOULD
TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT PROPERTY EXPOSED TO TIDAL FLOODING.

TIDES ARE CURRENTLY 1 TO 1.5 ABOVE NORMAL. PERSISTENT STRONG EAST TO
SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL CAUSE TIDES TO RANGE FROM 1 TO 3 FEET ABOVE
NORMAL TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY IN THE WARNING AREA. SOME LOW
LYING AREAS AND ROADWAYS MAY FLOOD LATE TONIGHT OR EARLY THURSDAY AT
THE TIME OF NEXT ASTRONOMICAL HIGH TIDE.

EAST WINDS AT 38 MILES AN HOUR WITH GUSTS TO 48 MILES AN HOUR WERE
REPORTED AT THE BURWOOD AUTOMATED WEATHER PLATFORM. EAST TO
SOUTHEAST WIND OF 25 TO 35 MPH WILL PREVAIL ALONG THE COASTAL AREAS
OF THE WARNING AREA. WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH MAY OCCUR AS SQUALLS
MOVE ONTO THE IMMEDIATE COASTAL AREAS TONIGHT AND EARLY THURSDAY.

RADAR SHOWED RAIN AND OCCASIONAL SQUALLS MOVING ACROSS THE COASTAL
AREAS PRODUCING OCCASIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL. RAINFALL OF 3 TO 5 INCHES
IS LIKELY IN THE WARNING AREA TONIGHT AND EARLY THURSDAY. FLOODING OF
LOW LYING AREAS AND ROADWAYS MAY OCCUR DUE TO THE HEAVY RAINFALL. A
FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT.
