THIS STATEMENT IS PRIMARILY FOR FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN
MISSISSIPPI...HANCOCK...HARRISON...JACKSON.
...WATCHES AND WARNINGS...
THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT FOR THE
MISSISSIPPI COAST.
...STORM INFORMATION SUMMARY...
AT 100 PM CDT...TROPICAL STORM IVAN WAS LOCATED AT 32.6 NORTH AND
87.1 WEST OR 45 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF MONTGOMERY ALABAMA. IVAN IS
MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NORTHEAST AROUND 14 MPH WITH A GRADUAL TURN
TO THE NORTHEAST AND SLOWING IN FORWARD SPEED THIS AFTERNOON
AND TONIGHT.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 70 MILES AN HOUR WITH HIGHER
GUSTS.

LOCAL OFFICIALS CONCERNING RETURNING TO THE AREA TODAY. LISTEN TO
LOCAL MEDIA FOR UPDATED AND DETAILED INFORMATION.
...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
TIDES HAVE RECEDED IN MOST AREAS OF SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA AND SOUTH
MISSISSIPPI. HOWEVER MINOR STORM SURGE FLOODING MAY STILL OCCUR
ACROSS EASTERN LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN AS GUSTY WEST WINDS PUSH WATER
TOWARD THE EASTERN PORTION OF THE LAKE.
TIDE LEVELS HAVE FALLEN RAPIDLY ALONG THE EASTERN PORTION OF ST
BERNARD...PLAQUEMINES AND ORLEANS PORTIONS AS OFFSHORE WINDS
PREVAIL.

WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 MILES AN HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS
ARE OCCURRING ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA...AROUND LAKE
PONTCHARTRAIN THIS MORNING.
IN COASTAL MISSISSIPPI....NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH HIGHER
GUSTS ARE OCCURRING ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI COAST.
WINDS ACROSS THE AREA WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH LATER THIS AFTERNOON
AND TONIGHT.
