THIS STATEMENT IS SPECIFIC TO THE FLORIDA KEYS OF MONROE COUNTY.

...WATCHES AND WARNINGS...
AT 11AM...A TROPICAL STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE FLORIDA
KEYS FROM THE SEVEN MILE BRIDGE WESTWARD TO THE DRY TORTUGAS. A
TROPICAL STORM WATCH MEANS THAT WINDS OF 39 TO 73 MILES PER HOUR ARE
POSSIBLE WITHIN THE WATCH AREA IN 36 HOURS OR LESS.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 1100 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IVAN WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 19.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE 81.5 WEST...OR ABOUT 30 MILES SOUTH
OF GRAND CAYMAN. THIS IS ABOUT 380 MILES SOUTH OF KEY WEST. MAXIMUM
SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 155 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THIS MAKES
IVAN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CATEGORY FOUR ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON
SCALE. SOME FLUCTUATIONS IN INTENSITY ARE LIKELY DURING THE NEXT 24
HOURS. IVAN IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 9 MPH...AND A
TURN TOWARD THE NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 12 TO 24
HOURS. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER OF IVAN SHOULD BE NEAR GRAND
CAYMAN BY THIS AFTERNOON. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE WAS ESTIMATED AT
919 MB...OR 27.14 INCHES OF MERCURY.

...WIND IMPACTS...
CURRENTLY...WINDS OVER THE LOWER KEYS AND NEARSHORE WATERS ARE FROM
THE EAST NEAR 20 MPH. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO 25 MILES PER
HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS THROUGH TOMORROW. BY MONDAY NIGHT WINDS WILL
INCREASE TO NEAR 30 MILES PER HOUR...WITH TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS
POSSIBLE IN THE LOWER KEYS AND DRY TORTUGAS.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
NO SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE IS EXPECTED IN THE KEYS WITH THE PASSAGE
OF HURRICANE IVAN. HOWEVER...HIGH TIDES IN THE LOWER KEYS COULD RUN
ONE TO TWO FEET ABOVE NORMAL TOMORROW AND TOMORROW NIGHT. THE NEXT
HIGH TIDES IN KEY WEST HARBOR WILL OCCUR AT 1005 PM AND 949 AM
MONDAY MORNING.

THE PROBABILITY THAT HURRICANE FRANCES WILL PASS WITHIN 75 MILES OF
KEY WEST IS NINETEEN PERCENT.

A MANDATORY EVACUATION OF KEYS RESIDENTS IS IN EFFECT.
RESIDENTS...MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR RE-ENTRY PERMIT. THE SHELTER FOR
MONROE COUNTY IS LOCATED AT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY. TAKE
U.S. 1 NORTH TO THE TURNPIKE...THEN EXIT EAST ON SW 8TH STREET.
FOLLOW THE SIGNS TO THE SHELTER...WHICH IS NOW OPEN. SHELTERS IN THE
KEYS WILL NOT BE OPEN. TOLLS AT CARD SOUND ROAD AND ON THE FLORIDA
TURNPIKE HAVE BEEN LIFTED. THE MONROE COUNTY INFORMATION HOT-LINE
HAS THE LATEST INFORMATION. THEY MAY BE REACHED AT 1 800...9 5 5...5
5 0 4. THE KEY WEST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WAS CLOSED TO COMMERCIAL
TRAFFIC AT NOON ON SATURDAY. GREYHOUND BUS LINES HAS SUSPENDED ITS
SERVICE BETWEEN THE KEYS AND MIAMI...UNTIL THE THREAT OF HAZARDOUS
CONDITIONS FROM HURRICANE IVAN HAS ENDED. FOR UPDATES AND DETAILS ON
