...TROPICAL DEPRESSION FRANCES MOVING VERY SLOWLY THROUGH EASTERN
ALABAMA AND WESTERN GEORGIA...FLOODING REMAINS A THREAT FOR MUCH
OF THE SOUTHEAST...SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL APPALACHIANS...AND MID
ATLANTIC.
FLASH FLOOD WATCHES ARE IN EFFECT FOR A LARGE PORTIONS OF
SOUTHEAST AND MID ATLANTIC STATES FROM FLORIDA...NORTHWARD INTO
GEORGIA...ALABAMA...TENNESSEE...NORTH CAROLINA...SOUTH
CAROLINA...WEST VIRGINIA...KENTUCKY...MARYLAND... AND VIRGINIA
THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON. A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR
WESTERN AND CENTRAL GEORGIA. THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS
ISSUED A TORNADO WATCH ENCOMPASSING CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA...AND
NORTHEASTERN GEORGIA.
AT 11 AM EDT...15Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION FRANCES
WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 32.4 NORTH LONGITUDE 85.3 WEST OR 50
MILES TO THE EAST OF MONTGOMERY ALABAMA. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS
ARE NEAR 20 MPH WITH SOME HIGHER GUSTS. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE
IS 996 MB OR 29.41 INCHES. FRANCES HAS BEEN NEARLY STATIONARY
OVER THE LAST SIX HOURS. HOWEVER...FRANCES IS FORECAST TO MOVE IN
A NORTHWARD DIRECTION THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO TONIGHT ALONG THE
ALABAMA / GEORGIA BOARDER AND THEN INTO THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS
ON WEDNESDAY. THE STORM IS THEN EXPECTED TO ACCELERATE NORTHWARD
THROUGH THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND BE OVER THE
NORTHERN MID ATLANTIC THURSDAY MORNING.
