A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA GULF COAST
FROM BONITA BEACH TO THE KEYS...INCLUDING FLORIDA BAY...AND ALSO FOR LAKE
OKEECHOBEE.
A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ALL SOUTH FLORIDA COUNTIES UNTIL 8 PM
TONIGHT.
A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR INTERIOR AND SOUTHEAST FLORIDA TONIGHT.

AT 5 PM EDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FRANCES WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE
28.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE 82.2 WEST. THIS LOCATION IS JUST EAST OF TAMPA. FRANCES
IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NORTHWEST NEAR 10 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 70
MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. STRENGTHENING WILL LIKELY OCCUR AFTER FRANCES MOVES INTO
THE GULF OF MEXICO TONIGHT.

EMERGENCY MANAGERS IN PALM BEACH...MIAMI-DADE AND BROWARD COUNTIES HAVE
RESCINDED THE EVACUATION ORDERS AND SHELTERS WILL BE CLOSING.
...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
THE WATER IN LAKE OKEECHOBEE WILL CONTINUE TO SLOSH BACK AND FORTH THROUGHOUT
THE NIGHT AND INTO MONDAY. MAXIMUM WATER LEVELS INSIDE THE DIKE WILL BE
NEAR 18 TO 19 FEET...ABOUT 4 TO 5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL...MAINLY BETWEEN THE
SOUTHWEST AND NORTHEAST SHORES. THE HOOVER DIKE PROTECTS INHABITED AREAS TO AT
LEAST 30 FEET ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL. RITTA...KREAMER AND TORRY ISLANDS ARE
PARTIALLY FLOODED AT THESE LEVELS INCLUDING SOME CAMPGROUNDS AND ROADS. ROADS
AND LAKESIDE FACILITIES IN THE PAHOKEE AREA WILL PARTIALLY FLOOD AT THESE
FORECAST LEVELS...AND SOME CAMPGROUNDS AND TRAILER PARKS ON THE LAKESIDE OF THE
DIKE WILL FLOOD AT THE FORECAST LEVELS MONDAY MORNING.
FOR THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA COAST...THE STORM TIDE OF 1 TO 3 FEET WILL SLOWLY
RECEDE TONIGHT...AS WINDS SLOWLY DECREASE AND BECOME SOUTHWEST AND THEN SOUTH.
ALONG THE TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS OF MAINLAND MONROE COUNTY AND CHOKOLOSKEE AND
EVERGLADES CITY AREAS OF COLLIER COUNTY...THIS WILL LIKELY FLOOD PARTS OF STATE
ROAD 29 BETWEEN TAMIAMI TRAIL AND CHOKOLOSKEE. FROM MARCO ISLAND NORTH TO NAPLES
AND BONITA BEACH THE MAXIMUM STORM TIDE WILL RECEDE TO 1 TO 2 FEET
TONIGHT AS THE WIND BECOMES MORE FROM THE SOUTH.

AT 5 PM...WINDS AT NAPLES WERE GUSTING TO 42 MPH. OVER MOST OF INTERIOR AND
SOUTHEAST FLORIDA...WINDS WERE GENERALLY 2O TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH AND A
WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT TONIGHT.
...LOCAL MARINE IMPACTS...
AT 5 PM...SUSTAINED WINDS ACROSS LAKE OKEECHOBEE WERE 43 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO
53 KNOTS. AT FOWEY ROCKS...SUSTAINED WINDS WERE 33 KNOTS GUSTING TO 39 KNOTS
WHILE AT LAKE WORTH SUSTAINED WINDS WERE 33 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 40 KNOTS.
FROM JUPITER INLET TO OCEAN REEF...SMALL CRAFT SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT UNTIL WINDS
AND SEAS SUBSIDE.
ACROSS THE GULF COASTAL WATERS OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA...SUSTAINED WINDS 25 TO 35
KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 50 KNOTS ARE POSSIBLE TONIGHT. WINDS AND SEAS WILL
SLOWLY SUBSIDE ON MONDAY.
...LOCAL FLOOD IMPACTS...
THROUGH 5 PM...THE GREATEST STORM TOTAL AMOUNT HAS BEEN 13.55 INCHES AT PALM
BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. ABOUT EIGHT INCHES HAS FALLEN AT AN AUTOMATED
RAIN GAUGE ABOUT HALFWAY BETWEEN PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND
WELLINGTON. STORM TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS HAVE AVERAGED 3 TO 5 INCHES ACROSS PALM
BEACH COUNTY AND ONE TO THREE INCHES ELSEWHERE. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1
TO 3 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE.

THERE IS STILL A THREAT OF TORNADOES ACROSS MOST OF SOUTH FLORIDA TONIGHT AS
