THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY RESIDENTS IN THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF NORTH FLORIDA...ALACHUA...BRADFORD...CLAY...
DUVAL...FLAGLER...MARION...NASSAU...PUTNAM AND ST JOHNS AND THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF SOUTHEAST GEORGIA...BRANTLEY...CAMDEN...
CHARLTON AND GLYNN..

A HURRICANE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE FLORIDA AND GEORGIA
EAST COAST...INCLUDING CAMDEN...DUVAL...FLAGLER...GLYNN...NASSAU AND
ST JOHNS COUNTIES.

AN INLAND HURRICANE WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR CLAY...
MARION AND PUTNAM COUNTIES.

AN INLAND TROPICAL STORM WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF NORTH FLORIDA ALACHUA AND BRADFORD AND
ALSO IN SOUTHEAST GEORGIA...BRANTLEY...INLAND CAMDEN...CHARLTON AND
INLAND GLYNN.

A TORNADO WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR ALACHUA...MARION...PUTNAM...ST
JOHNS AND FLAGLER COUNTIES UNTIL 2 AM SATURDAY MORNING.

A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF NORTH FLORIDA AND SOUTHEAST
GEORGIA THROUGH SATURDAY.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 9 PM EDT...0100Z...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE CHARLEY WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 28.4 NORTH...LONGITUDE  81.4 WEST OR ABOUT 15 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF ORLANDO FLORIDA.

CHARLEY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHEAST NEAR 25 MPH AND A
GRADUAL INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED TONIGHT AND SATURDAY.
THE CENTER OF THE HURRICANE WILL PASS NEAR ORLANDO IN THE NEXT
HOUR...AND IT SHOULD MOVE ACROSS THE NORTHEASTERN PORTION OF THE
FLORIDA PENINSULA INTO THE ATLANTIC LATER TONIGHT.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 90 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  FURTHER
WEAKENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. HOWEVER HURRICANE
FORCE WINDS ARE SPREADING ACROSS FLORIDA NEAR THE PATH OF THE CENTER
OF THE HURRICANE.  ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT HAS RECENTLY
REPORTED SUSTAINED WINDS OF 77 MPH AS WELL AS A MAXIMUM GUST OF 105
MPH WITH REPORTS OF DAMAGE BEING RECEIVED FROM THE ORLANDO AREA.

ERRORS IN THE FORECAST TRACK AT 6 TO 12 HOURS ARE AROUND 25 TO 50
MILES. INTERESTS IN THE REGION...INCLUDING INLAND AREAS...SHOULD
CONTINUE TO CLOSELY MONITOR THE CURRENT PROGRESS OF HURRICANE CHARLEY
AS WELL AS THE MOST CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
RESIDENTS ARE ADVISED TO FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF THEIR LOCAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY.  EXTENDED POWER OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS SOME
PORTION OF THE AREA OVERNIGHT. INTERESTS IN THE NORTH FLORIDA AND
SOUTHEAST GEORGIA AREA SHOULD HAVE FLASHLIGHTS...BATTERIES AND A
BATTERY OPERATED RADIO IN CASE OF POWER OUTAGES. NEVER USE CANDLES
DUE TO THE HIGH RISK OF FIRE.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
CHARLEY IS NOW EXPECTED TO MOVE OFF THE FLORIDA EAST COAST WITH
A LONGER PERIOD OF ONSHORE WINDS. THE STORM SHOULD MOVE OFFSHORE
NEAR LOW TIDE WITH STORM SURGE FLOODING OF 2 TO 4 FEET POSSIBLE NEAR
AND NORTH OF WHERE THE CENTER EXITS THE COAST. INTERESTS WHO NORMALLY
EXPERIENCE FLOODING DURING STRONG NORTHEASTERS SHOULD SECURE PROPERTY
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

...WIND IMPACTS...
ST JOHNS AND FLAGLER COUNTIES...WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE
THROUGH MIDNIGHT AND COULD REACH 65 TO 75 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 90 MPH
BETWEEN 11 PM AND 3 AM. A GRADUAL DECREASE IN THE WINDS IS
EXPECTED AFTER 3 AM. INTERESTS IN FLAGLER AND ST JOHNS COUNTIES
SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THE PASSAGE OF HURRICANE CHARLEY.

DUVAL AND NASSAU COUNTIES...WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE THROUGH
1 AM AND COULD REACH 55 TO 65 MPH...WITH GUSTS TO HURRICANE
FORCE ALONG THE IMMEDIATE BEACHES...BETWEEN 1 AM AND 5 AM. A GRADUAL
DECREASE IN THE WINDS IS EXPECTED AFTER 5 AM.

CAMDEN AND GLYNN COUNTIES...WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE THROUGH 2
AM AND SHOULD BRIEFLY REACH 45 TO 55 MPH...WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO
HURRICANE FORCE ALONG THE IMMEDIATE BEACHES. A GRADUAL DECREASE IN
THE WINDS IS EXPECTED AFTER 6 AM.

CLAY AND PUTNAM COUNTIES....WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE THROUGH
MIDNIGHT AND COULD REACH 40 TO 60 MPH OVER THE EASTERN PORTIONS OF
THE COUNTY BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 4 AM. WINDS MAY GUST TO HURRICANE
FORCE. A GRADUAL DECREASE IN THE WINDS IS EXPECTED AFTER 4 AM.

MARION COUNTY WINDS....WINDS OVER THE EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE
COUNTY ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE BETWEEN THROUGH MIDNIGHT AND COULD
REACH 30 TO 50 MPH BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 3 AM. WINDS MAY BRIEFLY GUST
TO HURRICANE FORCE OVER EXTREME EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE COUNTY. A
GRADUAL DECREASE IN THE WINDS IS EXPECTED AFTER 3 AM.

ALACHUA AND BRADFORD COUNTIES...WINDS OVER THE EASTERN PORTIONS OF
THE COUNTIES MAY INCREASE AROUND MIDNIGHT AND COULD BRIEFLY REACH 25
TO 40 MPH WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO 50 MPH. A GRADUAL DECREASE IN THE
WINDS IS EXPECTED AFTER 5 AM.

BRANTLEY AND CHARLTON...WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE BETWEEN 2
AM AND 5 AM AND MAY BRIEFLY REACH 25 TO 40 MPH. A GRADUAL DECREASE IN
THE WINDS IS EXPECTED AFTER 7 AM.

...SEAS AND RIP CURRENTS...
HURRICANE FORCE WINDS AND HIGH SEAS WILL DEVELOP OVER THE COASTAL
WATERS. MARINERS ARE ADVISED TO REMAIN IN PORT AND SWIMMERS SHOULD
REMAIN OUT OF THE WATER.  LARGE BREAKING WAVES AND SIGNIFICANT BEACH
EROSION ARE LIKELY NEAR AND NORTH OF WHERE THE CENTER EXITS THE
COAST.

...FLOOD IMPACTS...
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 4 TO 6 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AREAS IS POSSIBLE. AS
THE STORM APPROACHES THE COAST WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE WATCH WILL
LIKELY BE DISCONTINUED WITH THE NEXT STATEMENT.

...TORNADO IMPACTS...
THERE WILL BE A RISK OF ISOLATED TORNADOES THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.
TORNADOES CAN AND DO FORM WITH LITTLE OR NO WARNING...REMAIN ALERT
FOR DETERIORATING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.  STAY
TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR THE LOCAL MEDIA FOR POSSIBLE TORNADO
WARNINGS.
