The National Weather Service in Nashville has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central Putnam County in middle Tennessee...
* Until 1000 PM CDT.
* At 844 PM CDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy
rain in Algood and Cookeville. Between 2 and 6.5 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Public reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Cookeville, Algood and Baxter.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between mile markers 283 and 295.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
