The National Weather Service in Nashville has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central Putnam County in middle Tennessee...
* Until 900 PM CDT.
* At 703 PM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain and flash flooding in Algood and Cookeville.
Radar estimates between 2 and 6 inches of rain have fallen in the
past few hours. Heavy rain will fall for another 1 to 2 hours and
flash flooding is expected to continue.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Cookeville and Algood.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between mile markers 275 and 295.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
