...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SOUTHWESTERN CUMBERLAND...VAN
BUREN AND EASTERN WHITE COUNTIES UNTIL 200 PM CDT...
At 114 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area with several
strong thunderstorms, the strongest thunderstorm being 8 miles east
of Spencer, moving southeast at 5 mph.
Pea size hail, winds in excess of 30 mph, frequent cloud to ground
lightning strikes, and brief heavy rainfall will be possible with
these storms.
Locations impacted include...
Crossville, Sparta, Spencer, Pleasant Hill, Lake Tansi, Fall Creek
Falls State Park, Indian Rock Lake and Virgin Falls State Natural
Area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Brief heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may
lead to localized minor flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through
flooded roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes are occurring with these
storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
