216 AM CDT SUN MAY 2 2010
.HEAVY RAINFALL ON SATURDAY HAS CAUSED LARGE AMOUNTS OF RUNOFF INTO THE
CUMBERLAND RIVER BRINGING THE STAGE TO 35.4 FEET AT NASHVILLE AS OF 1 AM
CDT...AND THE RIVER IS CONTINUING TO RISE. FLOOD STAGE ON THE CUMBERLAND
RIVER AT NASHVILLE IS 40.0 FEET.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
AVOID FLOODED AREAS ALONG THE RIVER...AND MOVE PERSONAL BELONGINGS
TO HIGHER GROUND. NEVER DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADS AS THE DEPTH
OF WATER MAY BE TOO GREAT TO PASS...EVEN IN TRUCKS OR SPORT UTILITY
VEHICLES. IF YOU COME ACROSS A FLOODED ROAD...TURN AROUND DON'T DROWN.

* FLOOD STAGE IS 40.0 FEET.
* FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL RISE TO NEAR 27.3 FEET THIS MORNING.
* AT 38.0 FEET...WATER BEGINS TO INUNDATE THE THIRD GRASSY AREA OF THE
RIVERFRONT LANDING IN DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE AND PAVED WALKING AND BIKING TRAILS
IN THE SHELBY BOTTOMS AREA.
* AT 34.0 FEET...IN DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE WATER REACHES THE SECOND GRASSY AREA OF
THE RIVERFRONT LANDING AND COVERS MOST OF THE ACCESS AREA ON THE EAST SIDE OF
THE RIVER NEAR L P FIELD. IN EAST NASHVILLE WATER REACHES DIRT TRAILS IN THE
SHELBY BOTTOMS PARK AREA.
* AT 30.0 FEET...IN DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE THE FIRST GRASSY AREA OF THE RIVERFRONT
LANDING...AND THE ACCESS POINT ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE RIVER NEAR L P FIELD
ARE INUNDATED.
* AT 25.0 FEET...IN DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE THE RIVERFRONT AREAS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE
RIVER BEGIN TO BE INUNDATED.
