THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NASHVILLE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 AM CDT SATURDAY MORNING FOR PEOPLE IN THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES
IN TENNESSEE
WARREN...WHITE...EASTERN DE KALB...WESTERN CUMBERLAND...
PUTNAM...VAN BUREN...SOUTHEASTERN JACKSON...OVERTON...
FENTRESS...PICKETT...EASTERN COFFEE AND GRUNDY
INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS
ALGOOD...BAXTER...BYRDSTOWN...COOKEVILLE...CROSSVILLE...
GRUETLI-LAAGER...JAMESTOWN...LAKE TANSI...LIVINGSTON...
MCMINNVILLE...MONTEREY...SPARTA...SPENCER AND TRACY CITY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN FROM
TROPICAL STORM IVAN IN THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU.
THUSFAR...RAINFALL OF ONE TO TWO INCHES HAS OCCURRED. MORE
IMPORTANTLY...AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO THREE INCHES ARE EXPECTED IN THE
WARNING AREA BY DAYBREAK FRIDAY.
THIS HEAVY RAIN WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS...CITIES...AND
LOW AREAS WHICH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE FLOODING OF RIVERS. BE
ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO
HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. TURN AROUND! DON'T DROWN! VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER
SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
