NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH FOR THE
COUNTIES OF MAURY...WARREN...VAN BUREN...MARSHALL...COFFEE...
BEDFORD...LEWIS...GRUNDY...WAYNE...LAWRENCE AND GILES. THE WATCH
IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT UNTIL 400 PM CST THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
AN APPROACHING UPPER TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS LOUISIANA...MISSISSIPPI INTO SOUTHERN
ARKANSAS DURING THE EVENING. THE AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
WILL MOVE INTO SOUTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE AROUND MIDNIGHT...AND
OVERSPREAD THE AREA BY DAYBREAK THURSDAY. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TOTALS
BY MIDDAY THURSDAY MAY REACH AS HIGH AS ONE AND A HALF INCHES IN THE
WATCH AREA.
WITH GROUNDS ALREADY SATURATED BY PREVIOUS RAINS...FLOODING OF
POORLY DRAINED AREAS IS EXPECTED. SOME AREA ROADWAYS MAY BECOME
COVERED BY RISING WATER LATE TONIGHT AND ON THURSDAY. AREA CREEKS
AND STREAMS WILL LIKELY RISE TO BANKFULL ON THURSDAY.
A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR FLOODING OF
STREAMS...CREEKS AND OTHER FLOOD PRONE AREAS. IF YOU ARE IN THE WATCH
AREA...CHECK PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...KEEP INFORMED...AND BE READY
FOR ACTION IF FLOODING IS OBSERVEDOR IF A FLOOD WARNING IS ISSUED.
