.NEW INFORMATION...
Tropical Storm Watches have been cancelled for Pohnpei, Sapwuafik,
and Pakin.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions for
people of Pohnpei, Sapwuafik and Pakin in Pohnpei State.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
None.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 100 PM ChST...0300 UTC, Tropical Storm 01W was located near
Latitude 8.3 degrees North and Longitude 157.7 degrees East. This
was about 90 miles north-northwest of Pakin, 105 miles north-
northwest of Pohnpei, and 165 miles north of Sapwuafik. Maximum
sustained winds are 40 mph. 01W is moving north at 15 mph, but is
expected to make a slight turn toward the northwest with a decrease
in forward speed later tonight and Friday. 01W is expected to
continue intensifying through Friday before beginning a gradual
weakening trend.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Latest satellite imagery shows the center of TS 01W to the north-
northwest of Pohnpei and continuing northward. Through Friday
morning, 01W will remain in a generally favorable environment for
additional intensification. However, between Friday and Saturday, as
01W ventures a little further north, increasing upper-level winds and
drier mid-level air will result in a weakening 01W.

.NEXT UPDATE...
This will be the final local statement issued for 01W by the
National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam. However, 01W will continue
to be observed in the event it does not weaken by the weekend as
currently expected.

...POHNPEI...PAKIN AND SAPWUAFIK...

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Damaging winds are no longer expected, but gusty south to southwest
winds will be possible as showers pass over the region. Small craft
should remain in port until conditions improve further. Keep up to
date on the latest forecasts from your local Weather Service Office
and emergency management agency.

...WIND INFORMATION...
South winds of 10 to 15 mph are expected through the night. This
evening, there is still a small chance that passing showers could
bring gusts to around 30 mph.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Combined seas of 7 to 10 feet are expected to subside below hazardous
levels of 10 feet this evening. Hazardous surf is not expected and
the risk of life-threatening rip currents will decrease overnight.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue
overnight, but rainfall amounts are expected to stay less than 1
inch.
