.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions
for people in Guam and Rota.

.Watches/Warnings...
A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Guam. Tropical storm
conditions, including damaging winds of 39 mph or more, are expected
later this morning.

A tropical storm watch remains in effect for Rota. Tropical storm
conditions, including damaging winds of 39 mph or more are possible
today.

Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed
information about additional hazards.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 1 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Depression 06W was located
near Latitude 12.3N...Longitude 144.9E. This was about 80 miles
south of Guam and 125 miles south of Rota. Tropical Depression 06W
was moving northwest at about 14 mph with maximum sustained winds
of 35 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Tropical Depression 06W will continue northwest and is expected to
pass southwest of Guam around 500 AM this morning, then continue on
a northwest track today and tonight, taking 06W out to the west of
Guam by noon as it gradually intensifies into a tropical storm.

Preparations for damaging winds should be complete. Increasingly
gusty winds and heavy rains will hinder outdoor preparations. Loose
outdoor objects should be secured and boats should be securely
moored.

...Winds...
Southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph will gust to 40 mph or more in heavy
showers this morning, especially in higher elevations in southern
Guam. Winds are expected to decrease slowly during the afternoon as
06W moves off to the northwest and should be 15 to 20 mph by evening.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
Swell and wind waves will peak at between 10 and 12 feet, with
hazardous surf reaching up to 12 feet. Seas and surf will subside
during the afternoon and evening. Around times of high tide,
windward facing shores could see minor inundation of around 1 foot.

...Inland flooding...
Heavy showers will develop with 2 to 4 inches of rain possible
through this evening. Be alert for any flooding in your area. A

Preparations for the possibility of damaging winds this morning
should be complete. While the latest forecast track keeps damaging
winds south of Rota, small forecast changes could bring those winds
farther north. Loose outdoor objects should be secured. Ensure boats
are securely moored.

Southeast winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph this morning with
higher gusts in showers. Strongest winds are expected this morning,
slowly subsiding in the afternoon.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
Swell and wind waves will quickly increase overnight with combined
seas peaking at between 8 and 11 feet and surf reaching up to
hazardous levels of 12 feet. Seas and surf will subside this evening
and overnight. Around times of high tide, windward facing shores
could see minor inundation up to 1 foot.

...Inland flooding...
Heavy showers will develop today with 2 to 3 inches of rain possible
by evening. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect.
