This is the first local statement issued for Tropical Depression
28W.

A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Ngulu in Yap
State.

A Typhoon Watch is now in effect for Koror and Kayangel in
the Republic of Palau.

A Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect
for Yap in Yap State.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This Local Statement provides information and recommended actions
for people in Koror and kayangel in the Republic of Palau, and
Ngulu and Yap in Yap State.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Ngulu in Yap State.

A Typhoon Watch is now in effect for Koror and Kayangel in the
Republic of Palau.

A Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect for Yap in Yap State.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that Tropical Storm Conditions,
including damaging winds of 39 to 73 mph, are likely within the
next 24 hours.

A Typhoon Watch means that typhoon conditions are possible,
including the onset of damaging winds of 39 to 73 mph within 24
hours, and typhoon force winds of 74 mph or higher within 48
hours.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that Tropical Storm Conditions,
including damaging winds of 39 to 73 mph, are possible within the
next 24 hours.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression
28W was located near Latitude 5.3 degrees North and Longitude
141.2 degrees East. 28W is moving west at 12 mph. Maximum
sustained winds are 30 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Winds will likely increase as Tropical Depression 28W approaches
and slowly intensifies. Tropical Depression 28W is in a favorable
environment, with little wind shear and warm sea surface
temperatures.
