...TROPICAL DEPRESSION SURIGAE JUST SOUTHWEST OF NGULU...

.NEW INFORMATION...
A tropical storm warning is now in effect for Ngulu in Yap State.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions
for people on Yap and Ngulu in Yap State.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A tropical storm warning is now in effect for Ngulu in Yap State. A
Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Yap.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 700 AM ChST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression Surigae
was located about 30 miles west-southwest of Ngulu and 110 miles
south-southwest of Yap near Latitude 8.2 degrees North and Longitude
137.1 degrees East, moving northwest at 3 mph with maximum sustained
winds of 35 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Ngulu. A Tropical Storm
Watch is in effect for Yap. TD Surigae is expected to drift northward
just west of Ngulu this morning then turn slowly northwest by
tonight.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by 300 PM or sooner if
needed.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Prepare for the possibility of damaging winds of 40 mph or more,
which may occur later today.

...WIND INFORMATION...
East to northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph this morning may gust to 40
mph in showers today and tonight, and shift to south to southeast on
Thursday.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Surf will become hazardous at 9 feet or higher along west and south
facing reefs tonight, peaking near 15 feet Thursday evening and
Friday.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Additional rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is possible through tonight.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Prepare for the onset of damaging winds of 40 mph or more, which are
expected later today.

...WIND INFORMATION...
Southeast winds of 30 to 40 mph will gust to 50 mph in showers this
morning, then shift to south to southwest this afternoon and tonight.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Surf will become hazardous at 9 feet or higher along west and south
facing reefs this afternoon, peaking near 15 feet Thursday evening
and Friday.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Additional rainfall of 3 to 5 inches is likely through tonight.
