Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
1715 UTC.

...SPECIAL FEATURES....

...Atlantic Gale Warning...

A cold front is over the the western Atlantic. Gale force SW winds
are ahead of the front N of 28N between 66W-71W. The front will
move E to near 59W tonight when the front will pass Bermuda and
the Bahamas. The gale will end in our waters on 02/1200 UTC. Please

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough extends from the coast of Guinea near 10N13W
to 04N19W. The ITCZ continues from 04N19W to 02N30W to the coast
of Brazil near 01S45W. Scattered moderate convection is from 04N-
04S between 30W-50W.

GULF OF MEXICO...

As of 01/1500 UTC, a cold front extends from the Straits of
Florida at 24.5N80W to 23N90W to the Bay of Campeche at 21N97W.
Scattered showers are within 45 nm of the front. Strong N winds
are over the E Gulf E of 90W, N of the front.

The cold front will cross the Yucatan Channel this evening. Fresh
to locally strong NW winds following the front over the NE Gulf
will diminish tonight. Then, winds and seas will remain
relatively tranquil through the upcoming weekend as high pressure
builds over the NE Gulf.

CARIBBEAN SEA...

Strong winds are occurring off the coast of Colombia, otherwise
gentle to moderate winds prevail as high pressure continues to
settle into the basin. Dry conditions are also being observed
except along the coast of Costa Rica and W Panama.

As high pressure over the W Atlantic weakens and moves SE, winds
and seas in the Caribbean will remain fairly tranquil through the
rest of the week. A cold front will pass through the Yucatan
Channel this evening, then stall along 20N Thu and dissipate by
Fri. Winds will freshen through the Windward Passage and in the
lee of Cuba Fri night through the weekend.

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

the Gale Warning N of the Bahamas.

A cold front is presently over the W Atlantic from 31N68W to the
Straits of Florida near 24.5N80W. An area of broken cold air
stratocumulus clouds clouds are over the W Atlantic behind the
cold front. Another cold front stretches from 31N34W to 26N50W to
27N56W. Still a third cold front is located in the eastern
Atlantic from 31N26W to 20N39W. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms are occurring along both of these boundaries. A 1015
mb high pressure is centered just N of the Virgin Islands near
20N58W.

The western cold front will move quickly E, passing Bermuda and
the Bahamas tonight, then just N of Puerto Rico Fri. Intensifying
low pressure off the Mid-Atlantic coast will pull this front
across the waters this evening through Thu night. Gale force SW
winds and very large seas will prevail ahead of the front N of 28N
through this evening. Gale force winds may develop over the far
W Atlantic Fri into early Sat as the associated low pressure
system dives SE and passes just north of the forecast waters.
Northerly swell will produce large seas across the SW N Atlantic
waters through the weekend.
