Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
0515 UTC.

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough extends from western Africa near 08N13W to
03N20W, where it transitions to the ITCZ to 02S35W to the coast
of Brazil near 02S44W. Scattered moderate to isolated strong
convection is from 01N-03S between 05W-10W. Scattered moderate
convection is within 90 nm of the ITCZ between 20W-34W.

GULF OF MEXICO...

A stationary front extends from SE Louisiana near 29N91W to 28N92W
to S Texas near 27N97W. Scattered showers are within 90 nm of the
Louisiana coast. More showers are over the NE Gulf of Mexico from
27N-29N between 85W-88W. 5-15 kt southerly surface winds are E of
the front with strongest winds along the coast of the Yucatan
Peninsula.

The front will dissipate on Sat. A cold front will move into the
NW Gulf Sun. The front will slowly shift across the Gulf, moving
SE of the area Wed. Strong northerly winds and building seas will
follow the front, with gale conditions possible over the far SW
Gulf Tue night.

CARIBBEAN SEA...

Scattered showers are moving W with the tradewinds over the E
Caribbean E of 67W, and along the coasts of Honduras and Nicaragua
from 11N-17N between 82W-85W. Elsewhere, scattered moderate
convection is inland over N Colombia.

Fresh to strong trade winds will prevail in the south central
Caribbean through Wed. Winds will freshen over the eastern
Caribbean Mon night and Tue. Long period northerly swell will
propagate through tropical Atlantic waters and the Caribbean
Passages through Sat. E swell will move into the tropical Atlantic
waters Sun night through Tue night and subside Wed. A cold front
will move into the NW Caribbean Wed.

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

Scattered moderate convection is over the W Atlantic from 29N-31N
between 76W-80W. Otherwise, high pressure dominates the region
supported by a 1033 mb high near 34N19W. This surface high
pressure and stable air in the middle and upper levels of the
atmosphere are supporting fair weather across the eastern and
central Atlantic.

High pres will prevail over the majority of the Atlantic through
Sun. A cold front will move off the southeast United States coast
on Mon. The front will move across the forecast waters, extending
from near Bermuda to central Cuba on Wed. Strong southwest winds
will precede the front over the northern waters.
