Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
0515 UTC.

...SPECIAL FEATURES...

Near Gale-force winds are forecast for the areas called:
AGADIR and CANARIAS

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Liberia
near 06N10W to 01N18W. The ITCZ continues from 01N18W to 03S30W to
the coast of Brazil near 04N39W. Scattered moderate convection is
along the monsoon trough from 2N-5N between 10W-13W. Isolated
moderate convection is in the vicinity of the ITCZ from 03S-00N
between 32W-40W.

GULF OF MEXICO...

The tail end of a cold front is over S Florida from West Palm
Beach to Sarasota. No convection is along the front. A surface
trough is over the NE Gulf of Mexico from 29N92W to 28N83W.
Overcast low clouds and dense fog are from N of 25N, and E of 87W.
Overcast multilayered clouds are over the NW Gulf N of 26N, and W
of 90W. Scattered showers are noted on radar along the Louisiana
coast. Patches of dense fog are along the coasts of Texas and
Louisiana.

Building high pressure north of the Gulf will promote quiescent
conditions through Thu. A strong cold front will reach the NW
waters late Thu night, with gales possible in the west central and
southwest Gulf on Fri and Fri night.

CARIBBEAN SEA...

A 1010 mb low is centered over N Colombia near 09N74W. 10-30 kt
trade winds are over the Caribbean Sea with strongest winds along
the coast of N Colombia. Clusters of broken low clouds with
scattered showers are over Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, E Cuba, and
Honduras. In the upper levels, a broad ridge is over the Sea with
axis along 70W. Strong subsidence covers the entire Caribbean.

Fresh to strong trades in the S central Caribbean will pulse to
near gale at night near the Coast of Colombia through Wed night.
The tradewinds may reach gale force on Fri night. Otherwise,
mainly moderate to locally fresh trades will continue across the
forecast waters. No significant cold fronts are expected for the
next several days to reach the Caribbean.

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

A 1008 mb low is centered over the W Atlantic near 33N76W. A cold
front extends S to S Florida near West Palm Beach. A cold front is
over the central Atlantic from 31N43W to 28N55W. A stationary
front extends from that point to 27N67W to the W Atlantic Low near
33N76W. Scattered moderate convection is from 25N-29N between
51W-56W, and from 26N-35N between 67W-73W.

Over the W Atlantic, the W Atlantic low will track slowly
northeastward tonight. Associated weak cold front will progress
eastward across the forecast waters through mid-week. High
pressure will build in the wake of the front with quiescent
conditions through Fri. A second stronger cold front should reach
the Atlantic coast off of Florida Fri night.
