Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
0445 UTC.

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Sierra
Leone near 07N12W to 03N20W. The ITCZ continues from 03N20W to the
Equator along 40W, and to the Equator along 50W. Precipitation:
scattered strong from 02N to 04N between 03W and 05W, from 01N to
03N between 20W and 22W, and from 01N to 03N between 26W and 34W.
isolated moderate rainshowers are elsewhere from 10N southward.

...DISCUSSION...

GULF OF MEXICO...

A cold front passes through Andros Island in the Bahamas, across
NW Cuba, to the N part of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Surface high pressure spans the rest of the Gulf of Mexico. A 1016
mb high pressure center is near 28N93W, off the coasts of Texas
and Louisiana. Precipitation: isolated moderate rainshowers are
within 180 nm to the NW of the line 24N69W 20N80W 17N90W, from the
Atlantic Ocean, across Cuba, to the Yucatan Peninsula.

A second cold front is passing through the SW corner of
Louisiana, into the inland areas of the upper Texas Gulf coast, in
the coastal plains of Texas, into the Deep South of Texas, and
then into northern parts of Mexico. Precipitation: scattered to
numerous strong rainshowers are in the coastal sections of the
Deep South of Texas and NE Mexico from 24N to 27N. Other broken
multilayered clouds and possible rainshowers cover the area from
20N northward between 90W and 100W.

The current Texas cold front will move across the northern Gulf
through Friday. High pressure will build behind the front into
the weekend.

CARIBBEAN SEA...

A cold front passes through Andros Island in the Bahamas, across
NW Cuba, to the N part of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Precipitation: isolated moderate rainshowers are within 180 nm to
the NW of the line 24N69W 20N80W 17N90W, from the Atlantic Ocean,
across Cuba, to the Yucatan Peninsula.

A surface trough is along 65W/66W from 13N to 20N. Rainshowers are
possible in scattered to broken low level clouds, from 12N to 20N
between 60W and 68W.

Fresh-to-locally strong winds will prevail in the south central
Caribbean Sea during the next few nights. Gentle to moderate
trades will continue elsewhere through Monday.

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

A cold front passes through 32N72W, to 28N74W, through Andros
Island in the Bahamas, across NW Cuba, to the N part of the
Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Precipitation: isolated moderate
rainshowers are within 180 nm to the NW of the line 24N69W 20N80W
17N90W, from the Atlantic Ocean, across Cuba, to the Yucatan
Peninsula, and elsewhere from 24N northward between 60W and 70W.

A 1017 mb low pressure center is near 31N47W. A second cold front
is connected to the low pressure center, to the north of the
area, and the front passes through 32N44W to 26N46W 24N52W, and
26N60W. Precipitation: widely scattered moderate to isolated
strong rainshowers are from 25N northward between 43W and 46W.
rainshowers are possible elsewhere from 23N northward between 43W
and 60W, and from 20N northward between 40W and 43W.

The cold front that is more to the west will stall and dissipate
on Thursday. A second and weak cold front will move into the
northwest waters on Friday night, and reach from 31N74W to S
Florida Saturday night, then dissipate on Sunday. A stronger cold
front moving off the Carolinas will push south of 30N on Sunday
night, and then reach from 28N65W to the Bahamas on Monday night.
