high tide this afternoon, mainly along the Plymouth County coast and
Nantucket. Severe beach erosion will continue over the next several
tide cycles.

The marine community will continue to feel the highest impacts with
life-threatening conditions continuing on the coastal waters southeast
of New England through this afternoon, with seas up to 16 feet and
tropical storm force wind gusts.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Strong winds across Cape Cod and the Islands will continue this
morning, then will slowly begin to diminish this afternoon into
tonight.

Potential impacts in these areas include:
    - Some tree limbs or even whole trees uprooted.
    - Some roads impassable from large debris especially in heavily
      wooded places.
    - Scattered power and communications outages.

* OTHER COASTAL HAZARDS:
With Jose expected to remain nearly stationary over the next few days
high surf, severe beach erosion and dangerous rip currents will
continue to impact area beaches and coastlines. The threat will likely
linger through the weekend, and possibly into early next week.

* SURGE:
Protect against locally hazardous surge of 1 to 1.5 feet, having
possible limited impacts in coastal Plymouth County and on Nantucket
during the afternoon high tide.

Potential impacts in these areas include:
    - Localized inundation with storm surge flooding mainly along
      immediate shorelines and in low-lying spots.
- Severe beach erosion. Heavy surf also breaching dunes, mainly in
      usually vulnerable locations. Strong rip currents.
