 **TROPICAL STORM EMILY MOVES INLAND**


NEW INFORMATION
---------------

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - The Tropical Storm Warning has been cancelled for Coastal
      Hillsborough, Coastal Manatee, Coastal Sarasota, Inland
      Manatee, Inland Sarasota, and Pinellas

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Charlotte and
      Coastal Lee

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 70 miles north-northwest of Fort Myers FL
    - 27.6N 82.2W
    - Storm Intensity 40 mph
    - Movement East or 85 degrees at 10 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Tropical Storm Emily is moving inland with weakening winds and rain
bands. The potential for flooding remains the greatest threat across
the area, but tropical storm force wind gusts are still possible.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* FLOODING RAIN:
Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across
West Central and Southwest Florida. Remain well guarded against locally
hazardous flood waters having additional limited impacts. If realized,
these impacts include:
    - Localized rainfall flooding may prompt a few evacuations.
    - Rivers and tributaries may quickly rise with swifter currents.
      Small streams, creeks, canals, and ditches may become swollen
      and overflow in spots.
    - Flood waters can enter a few structures, especially in usually
      vulnerable spots. A few places where rapid ponding of water
      occurs at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
      areas. Several storm drains and retention ponds become
      near-full and begin to overflow. Some brief road and bridge
      closures.

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across
Southwest Florida. Remain well sheltered from hazardous wind having
additional limited impacts. If realized, these impacts include:
    - Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
      mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
    - Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or
      uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are
      shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over.
    - A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban
      or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on
      bridges and other elevated roadways.
    - Scattered power and communications outages.

Elsewhere across West Central and Southwest Florida, little to no
impact is anticipated.

* TORNADOES:
Potential impacts from tornadoes are still unfolding across Southwest
Florida. Remain well braced against a tornado event having possible
limited impacts. If realized, these impacts include:
    - The occurrence of isolated tornadoes can hinder the execution
      of emergency plans during tropical events.
    - A few places may experience tornado damage, along with power
      and communications disruptions.
    - Locations could realize roofs peeled off buildings, chimneys
      toppled, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned,
      large tree tops and branches snapped off, shallow-rooted trees
      knocked over, moving vehicles blown off roads, and small boats
      pulled from moorings.

Elsewhere across West Central and Southwest Florida, little to no
impact is anticipated.

* SURGE:
Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time across West Central
and Southwest Florida.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
----------------------------------

* EVACUATIONS:
None expected.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
If you live in a place particularly vulnerable to flooding, such as
near the ocean or a large inland lake, in a low lying or poor
drainage area, or near an already swollen river, plan to move to safe
shelter on higher ground

that are issued. Do not needlessly jeopardize your life or the lives
of others.

official storm information. Listen for possible changes to the
forecast.
