TYPHOON DOLPHIN HAS VEERED TO THE WEST AND APPEARS LIKELY TO PASS
OVER NORTHERN GUAM OR JUST NORTH OF GUAM.

THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDED ACTIONS
FOR PEOPLE IN GUAM...ROTA...TINIAN AND SAIPAN.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A TYPHOON WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR GUAM...ROTA...TINIAN AND
SAIPAN. TYPHOON CONDITIONS...INCLUDING WINDS OF 74 MPH OR MORE...
ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR GUAM AND THE NORTHERN
MARIANAS.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 245 PM CHST...THE CENTER OF TYPHOON DOLPHIN WAS LOCATED BY
RADAR NEAR LATITUDE 13.5 NORTH AND LONGITUDE 145.8 EAST. THIS IS
ABOUT 110 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF SAIPAN...105 MILES SOUTH-
SOUTHEAST OF TINIAN...60 MILES SOUTHEAST OF ROTA...AND 70 MILES
EAST OF GUAM. DOLPHIN WAS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST AT 10 MPH WITH
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS OF 110 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
LATEST RADAR IMAGERY SHOWS TYPHOON DOLPHIN VEERING MORE TO THE
WEST ON A HEADING THAT WOULD BRING THE EYE TO NORTHERN GUAM OR
JUST NORTH OF GUAM AROUND 500 OR 600 PM. SEAS HAVE REACHED NEARLY
22 FEET AT THE IPAN BUOY JUST EAST OF GUAM. WINDS AND SEAS WILL
INCREASE THROUGH THIS EVENING AS DOLPHIN DRAWS NEAR AND PASSES
THROUGH THE MARIANAS.

NORTH TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS WILL INCREASE TO TYPHOON FORCE
AROUND 500 OR 600 PM. MAXIMUM WINDS OF 75 TO 90 MPH ARE POSSIBLE
OVER NORTHERN GUAM THIS EVENING...AND 65 TO 80 MPH WINDS ARE
POSSIBLE OVER SOUTHERN GUAM. WINDS WILL SHIFT TO SOUTH AFTER THE
CENTER PASSES. WINDS WILL FALL BELOW TYPHOON FORCE AROUND 1000 PM
AND BELOW TROPICAL STORM FORCE WELL AFTER MIDNIGHT. THESE WINDS
COULD VARY IF DOLPHIN CONTINUES TO WOBBLE IN ITS MOTION.

SEAS OF 25 FEET OR HIGHER ARE EXPECTED THROUGH TONIGHT. THIS WILL
PRODUCE DANGEROUS SURF OF 16 TO 24 FEET ALONG NORTH AND WEST
FACING SHORES WITH EVEN HIGHER SURF ON EAST FACING SHORES THROUGH
THIS AFTERNOON AS THE CENTER PASSES. COASTAL INUNDATION OF 2 TO
3 FEET IS LIKELY...ESPECIALLY NEAR HIGH TIDE LATE THIS AFTERNOON
AROUND 545 PM.
