MONROE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS HAVE LIFTED THE
MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR RESIDENTS OF THE KEYS. HOWEVER...ANY
PERSON RE-ENTERING THE KEYS SHOULD USE CAUTION AS A FEW RAINBANDS
MAY BRING STRONG...GUSTY WINDS AND PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN TODAY
THROUGH TUESDAY. ALSO...AS FISHERMANS HOSPITAL IN MARATHON WILL OPEN
BEGINNING TUESDAY...AND LOWER KEYS MEDICAL CENTER BEGINNING

AT 200 PM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IVAN WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 20.9 NORTH...LONGITUDE 84.7 WEST...OR ABOUT 70 MILES SOUTH
SOUTHEAST OF THE WESTERN TIP OF CUBA. THIS IS ABOUT 310 MILES SOUTH
SOUTHWEST OF KEY WEST. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE NEAR 160
MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THIS MAKES IVAN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
CATEGORY FIVE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE. SOME
FLUCTUATIONS IN INTENSITY ARE LIKELY DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. IVAN
WAS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 8 MPH. THIS GENERAL MOTION IS
EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE
WAS MEASURED AT 914 MB...OR 26.99 INCHES OF MERCURY.

...MARINE IMPACTS...
SEAS ARE EXPECTED TO BUILD TO NINE TO TWELVE FEET OUTSIDE THE REEF
AND TWO TO FOUR FEET INSIDE THE REEF BY THIS EVENING. MARINERS
SHOULD MONITOR FORECASTS UNTIL THE HURRICANE IVAN THREAT HAS PASSED.
SMALL CRAFT SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT.

FOR THE LOWER AND MIDDLE KEYS...SUSTAINED WINDS NEAR 20 MPH WITH
GUSTS TO 30 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED IN OCCASIONAL SQUALLS.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
NO SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE IS EXPECTED IN THE KEYS WITH THE PASSAGE
OF HURRICANE IVAN. HOWEVER...HIGH TIDES IN THE LOWER KEYS COULD RUN
AROUND ONE FOOT ABOVE NORMAL TODAY AND TONIGHT. THIS MAY CAUSE SOME
MINOR OVERWASH ONTO STREETS ALONG THE ATLANTIC-FACING COASTLINE AT
THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE...AND MAINLY IN THE LOWER KEYS.  THE NEXT
HIGH TIDE IN KEY WEST HARBOR WILL OCCUR AT 1031 PM THIS EVENING.

THE PROBABILITY THAT HURRICANE IVAN WILL PASS WITHIN 75 MILES OF
KEY WEST IS FOUR PERCENT.

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE FLORIDA KEYS FROM THE
SEVEN MILE BRIDGE WESTWARD TO THE DRY TORTUGAS.
