Areas affected...northwestern Georgia and eastern Tennessee

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 78...

Valid 250654Z - 250900Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 78
continues.

SUMMARY...A line of storms -- with local/transient embedded
low-level circulations -- continues moving eastward at around 50 kt
across eastern Tennessee and northeastern Georgia.

DISCUSSION...A continuous line of strong/locally severe storms
continues moving eastward out of Middle Tennessee into eastern parts
of the state, and out of northeastern Alabama into northwestern
Georgia.

Instability diminishes with eastward, as depicted by RAP-based
objective analyses, and confirmed by the 06Z FFC RAOB showing a lack
of CAPE for any lifted parcel. Still, within the meager instability
in the immediate vicinity of the line, a brief tornado recently
occurred over northeastern Jackson County Alabama, with a briefly
strong low-level spin-up in the line.

Overall, the lack of instability downstream from the convection
suggests a gradual decrease in storm intensity. However, locally
strong wind gusts or a brief/weak tornado may still occur in the
next 1 to 2 hours.
