Areas affected...far south-central KY...Middle TN...northern AL

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 549...

Valid 122159Z - 122330Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 549
continues.

SUMMARY...An isolated threat for localized wind damage may extend
beyond the eastern bound of the existing severe thunderstorm watch.
The greatest severe threat will occur between 500-630pm CDT before
gradually waning instability lessens the overall risk.

DISCUSSION...Radar mosaic shows a mature squall line from
south-central KY extending southwestward into middle TN and into
adjacent parts of northwest AL and northeast MS as of 5pm CDT. This
thunderstorm activity is occurring coincident with a lead mid-level
shortwave trough moving across the Mid South early this evening.
Weak to moderate buoyancy is analyzed ahead of the squall line from
south-central KY into northern AL. It appears the greatest risk for
severe will probably occur across middle TN through 630pm CDT in
proximity to bowing segments oriented more north-south and more
favorably aligned with the mean flow. Isolated damaging gusts
(50-60 mph) are possible with this portion of the line.
