Survey Summary:
This is a continuation of the EF-2 tornado that touched down in
Franklin County near Tims Ford Lake. The tornado weakened
considerably to an EF-0 when it entered the extreme southeastern
portion of Coffee County near the Rutledge Hill area. The worst
damage was along Coker and Boyd Roads where several large branches
and trees were snapped off as well as some minor roof damage to
barn. Several outbuildings were destroyed and a house sustained
roof damage when its front porch was ripped off.

Once the tornado crossed into Grundy County, it intensified
rapidly to an EF-2 causing damage along Conry Circle to some
homes. The tornado continued northeast where it completely ripped
off the roof of a brick home on Highway 50. Luckily, the house
occupants were taking shelter and were not injured. The tornado
continued it's path almost to the Sequatchi County line moving up
and down hills and hollows throughout the county. Very impressive
tree damage occurred throughout the county with many county roads
being blocked. As far as estimates on how many trees were downed
in the county, would not be surprised if this number climbed to
1500-2000 trees snapped, uprooted, or downed.

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the
following categories:

EF0...Weak......65 to 85 mph
EF1...Weak......86 to 110 mph
EF2...Strong....111 to 135 mph
EF3...Strong....136 to 165 mph
EF4...Violent...166 to 200 mph
EF5...Violent...>200 mph
